Stunner's overconfidence gets the best of him as he makes the rookie mistake of overlooking the fact that as good as his plan may have been, he wasn't the only one who had thought of it. Finding the "easy" target too tempting to pass up, he finds out too late that it was all a setup. Although his team may have made good use of their ranged advantage, that advantage only lasts as long as it takes the opponent to close. And against a veteran and well-trained team like Jet, that doesn't take long at all. Once things go to close combat, the tables turn as Nicole goes back to the Sun Tzu her master made her read - "Thus, what is of supreme importance in war is to attack the enemy's strategy. "
Again for those keeping score at home, due to her unusual background and training, Nicole's abilities and "moveset" are actually a blend of those of a meowth and a hitmonlee. Thus her mastery of moves such as Focus Energy and Jumping Hi Kick which she uses here.

She's grouchy when she first wakes up
She very rarely uses her Intimidate ability, which somehow serves to make it all the more effective when she does. She wouldn't be a part of this team if she didn't know how to throw down in the arena, and keeping the other team's leader off balance and unable to think with a barrage of sheer aggression seemed like a pretty good plan to her.

It's still hard to get poisons and other things that affect a target's metabolism to work on someone who doesn't really have one. Not saying it's impossible, but you have to get a little creative. But I'm looking at more of the pokemorphs as superpowered beings approach than trying a strict game conversion.
YIKES, man.
Michi: Ah man, poor Mitzi...
Myra: *brow-raise* You actually rooting for Jet, birdy? Didn't think they were your type of team.
Michi: Well, thy aren't? ...but I like Mitzi. 'Course I think Charmanda's cute too, so I dunno who to root for...
Angelo: *Shakes head* Strange, strange little Delibird.

Angelo: *Shakes head* Strange, strange little Delibird.
Myra: What, they care who YOU root for? Besides, they got bigger fish to fry...like those kids they fighting against. *she lets out a sharp whistle* Get 'im good, Blackclaw!
Michi: Wait, YOU'RE rooting for Jet?
Myra: What? They good fighters. Besides, any Meowth that can take on my Tuesday special and come out of it smiling is okay gal in my book!
*Angelo merely shakes his head. Again.*

Myra: Listen, "Nene". Food can do a lot more than just feed you. You can read volumes of things about people when you see them eat -- if they separate the arroz from the habichuelas, if they eat their veggies or not, how fast they eat. You know how some fighters like to fight because that how they feel they can best learn about the other person? Same deal.
And phfft, proposing at a restaurant is boring anyway.

Myra: *facepalms* How you think a kid that young became a Senior? He's book-smart. Michi knows maybe...four languages? He sharp and wants to be seen that way.
But "book" is as far as the smart thing go. He know the language and what words mean but he still got way to go before he can start up a conversation with me. Let me put it this way -- you can read the Kama Sutra word for word and know every chapter by heart, but does this mean you're an expert on sex? Or in his case, read a whole cookbook but just now actually be allowed to even do anything in the kitchen to become a chef? You follow me?

Yow, double whammy on Stunner in such a short time (and his new jersey got wrecked, too!), and Zeni's been getting undue amounts of abuse as well. I'm not gonna say it's over yet, but something better turn around real quick.
And of course, the most important lesson to be learned here... never, EEEEEVER, mess up a Fire-type's tail fur!

The thing you have to keep in mind is that these guys are veterans. Not only are they seniors but they all had years worth of experience battling in some very competitive environments before they even set foot in the academy. They've faced off against these kinds of attacks many times before and by now they've learned a few countermeasures and ways of dealing with them. Wouldn't be a very good school if they hadn't after all. It's the same way that you're not going to put a dent in someone like Warfare without getting creative and thinking outside the box, the standard tactics he's seen too many times.
Holy dook! *puts on a WW2 helmet and dives for cover* Its getting out of control down there. I'm glad I haven't finished Team Zero Percent yet. They'd really have a 0% chance down there.
As a side note, this is where a surf attack would be fun, mostly because it'd hit everyone. Now if only Miss Squirtel had that attack.

Cain: I guess I understand where Mitzi's coming from here; Pachu shocked me one time--
Pachu: --'cause you pissed me off.
Cain: --and I had an out-of-control full-body afro to deal with for two weeks!!
Pachu: I posted pictures of it on PikaSpace.
Cain: *pissed off* YOU WHAT?!?!?!?!?!!!!
