protectorate mammut and assault trooper idea
as with any RTS game, you need a massive unit that dishes out massive damage as much as it takes. the protectorate army which specializes in raw strength and defence then needs this tank. the issue with tanks like the apocalypse, overlord and mammoth from the command and conquer series is that they only engage one enemy at a time. this tank can engage up to 3, 2 are on the ground hopefully. the frontal sponson turret houses an ion burst turret that works like a directed EMP that immobilizes other vehicles and can fry enemy soldiers though not as efficiently. the main turret houses 4 main guns, 2 missile pods that can hit both air and ground targets and the ubiquitous protectorate rotary cannons but they can only hit air targets as a form of game balance. the chassis is currently a hover type because i can at the moment, subject to change.
the assault trooper serves as the strong early game anti-infantry and anti-air soldier for protectorate forces. the soldier uses a portable rotary gun and is able to deploy himself which reduces his speed drastically for a much higher volume of fire.
his theme is that of a techno-inspired knight, something like the belltower mercenaries from Deus Ex 3.
