While it's a little early, this is actually a Valentine. I had commissioned this before my current financial situation arose, and my good friend stepped in to cover the cost instead.
Drifter & Tagalong had spent the day out having a nice time around town. They did some shopping, caught a movie, and enjoyed a good meal. However, as they arrived home in the late afternoon, something about the day just didn’t feel complete. They sat thinking for awhile before the inkling of an idea came to them both. Blushing brightly as their eyes met, they scurried off to get ready.
Soon after found two overgrown cubs walking paw in paw through a nearby park, listening to the birds chirp, and watching the butterflies flutter among the flowers. Nervously aware how little it would take to give them away, a reassuring squeeze from their clasped paws and a sweet smile was all it took to keep going.
Finding a bench off in a secluded section of the park, Drifter set down the bag and took a seat, blushing slightly at the crinkling sound from beneath his childish outfit. He patted the seat beside him, but Tagalong just smiled and shook her head, kneeling down on the soft grass and leaning back against his leg. Unconcerned by her revealing pose in this quiet corner of the park, she took his paw again, purring contentedly as he gently stroked her hair.
Together, the pair quietly watched the setting sun, enveloped in the tranquility of the warm evening. Not a word was spoken, and none was needed, only the gentle sound of the birds and insects around them filling the silence, briefly interspersed with a subtle crinkle as either of them shifted in their seat. Both big and little, at peace and in love, they had found their storybook ending to a perfect day.
