I like reading about impoverished society of turn-of-century Paris (as well as Charles Dickens). So I created a previous story involving a Spanish painter, a prostitute, a beggar boy.

Alexandre steals because he has to. It is that simple. If he doesn't steal, he will get beaten by his uncle. If he does, then the police will send him to prison. (which is not as bad as an orphanage). Consider Alexandre, the french Oliver Twist, to put it frankly.

Guillermo met this boy after, Alexandre tried to pickpocket him. And the rest is history.

(Oh and I'm trying to practice more perspective.)
