This is page four of chapter 11 of "ACE AND QUEENIE: THE DEVIL'S FLOWER GAMBIT",which will run in issue # 182 of FURRLOUGH.Alex, attempting to escape from Lilith's estate after rescuing an innocent victim of WRAITH's mind control drug experiments, must perform emergency "do it yourself" surgery on himself after being shot by one of Lilith's guards.
Once again, for your convenience, here is my synopsis for the story:What began as a routine surveillance assignment spirals into a labyrinthine nightmare for Alex and Denise when they learn that the shadowy international criminal organization WRAITH has gained possession of the formula for a potentially deadly new psychotropic drug. Before they can determine their adversaries’ plans for the narcotic the heroic secret agent couple are forcibly separated from each other through the machinations of Countess Lilith Bathory- WRAITH’s unpredictable second-in-command. However,Lilith is not working alone. For her own purposes she has formed an alliance with “Lord” Tozama Nariaki-the enigmatic head of Japan’s Black Cherry Blossom crime syndicate. Gee,thanks for planting that minefield for me!
My honest answer would have to be no. Denise is a superb athlete ( as a young girl, she aspired to be an Olympic Gymnast ) and with Alex's guidance and encouragement as his partner, she has absolutely become a capable agent in her own right, but the plain fact is,Alex is the more experienced of the two. He's the career spy, along with being a former U.S. Navy SEAL,and has been through things you and I can scarcely imagine. He has extraordinary strength and stamina, and you just can't compare the two of them in that regard. To be blunt,Denise's early life was rather sheltered, being the Daughter of a wealthy family. In fact,I would dare say at least one of the reasons she fell in love with Alex was that he was the first man she'd ever known who didn't pat her on the head and treat her like an empty-headed Ninny, but with respect as a person who had more potential within her than she perhaps realized.
Dear Rusty:
Sorry it took me so long to get back to you! Anyway:
"Gee,thanks for planting that minefield for me!"
No problem!

True, but given enough time, Denise will catch up with him.
"He's the career spy, along with being a former U.S. Navy SEAL,and has been through things you and I can scarcely imagine."
Well, you had better be able to imagine them, since you're the one creating the stories!
"He has extraordinary strength and stamina, and you just can't compare the two of them in that regard."
Was Alex just born that way, or did he develop his body through training? And if so, could Denise do the same thing?

Wow! I never knew any of that. At least, if this information has been mentioned in the comics I've forgotten it. Maybe you should do an Ace and Queenie origin story showing the backgrounds of Alex and Denise, how they met, how they became spies, etc.

Perhaps,to a degree, but keep in mind this is not a compettition,or a "Battle of the sexes"...Alex and Denise are a team ,both romantically and professionally. Denise respects Alex's experience and seniority, and never do anything to undermine him.And by the same token,Alex would never pull rank on her or treat her as an inferior,in spite of that seniority. He calls the shots, but always values her input. "Well, you had better be able to imagine them, since you're the one creating the stories!"
Well, one thing I have often wondered is whether anyone would be interested in an "Ace before Queenie" story ( or stories) flashing back to earlier points in both his careers in the Military and as a spy, which would also touch on some of the Women in his past. "Was Alex just born that way, or did he develop his body through training? And if so, could Denise do the same thing?"

Hmmm....maybe I will, but I think I've revealed enough about them for the time being.
