I dunnoooooooooo. Enter The Dragonfly was pretty awful too ahahaha. It was so... bad. The graphics and mechanics somehow managed to be worse than the original trilogy, and it was released on a newer console. The Legend trilogy wouldn't have been so bad if they hadn't sold it under the Spyro name. I'm more upset about the complete reboot and lack of respect to the originals than the gameplay itself.
I just wish Insomniac had never sold it. B(

I think the story was about missing eggs and I had to find them all. It used areas each with portals to worlds to complete, after all are found Spyro is taken to another area by means of a ever differing mode of transport, I remember the first was a hot-air balloon. one area is green land, one is mostly water and the final one I think is on a planet or sorts, that's where I remember being.

That would be Spyro Year of The Dragon then. The third one.

Its just the European name that was given to Spyro 2.

So if you're American then you will know it as Ripto's Rage.

it's not about the player/storyline anymore, it's about $$$.

I'm starting to see a decline in the gaming industry, hell
look at Nintendo for example. Not many, that I've spoken
to, are happy about the "Wiiu". ONLY thing they look forward
too is the new Super Smash Bros...that's it.

I could suggest a few things Nintendo COULD do to get back
on their feet but, I'm afraid:

A: They'll fuck it up like most games are now-a-days

B: Only think about the $$$

Coming from someone who has only ever owned playstations but has also spent a share of my time with sega and supernintendo

I loved PS1 and adored the Spiderman games and Spyro and crash. All the goodens. Then PS2 came along and I had even more things to love. I replayed Okami, Jak, Ratchet, Sly, BG&E again and again and it was awesome. Guess what? I have never picked up a single PS3 game a second time after beating it. I love Uncharted but it has no replay value, same with freakin' AC. AC is just OK. It is so poorly executed with its 'story.' Infamous was meh in the long run. So many of them are MEH in the long run.

Aye. Not saying I don't like the Insomniac ones at all--Was actually streaming Ripto's Rage earlier to my Vita. And Activision's Skylanders series, well... Haven't poked around with those enough to have an actual opinion of it. I just like the games really, and the Legend series just stuck with me more. And nothing wrong with a minority, it's just another fraction of the overall pie of things.

The first ones where awesome because i love when i have to collect it all!
Every aspect of it was so enticing i couldn't stop till i finished them!

The Elijah one were alright, but i definitely hated the gameplays for the DS, and the 360 version just looks like a more childish version of God of War.
The story however was what i liked about them, loving the characters and getting to know the plot more nd more.
Then comes the ending!
It was like someone just drop kicked my soul and set it on fire.
It was one of the saddest endings ever.
Next to Mass Effect 2 where the Normandy gets vaporized many times ass you sit there watching it go down and Borderlands 2 where they kill bloodwing. I loved playing with Blood in the first one and they just BOOM!

The Elijah Wood trilogy was OK. No where near as good as the original, but I don't think it's as bad as you say.

Just don't get me started on what Skylanders did.

It was bad because they made it all epic and a great story and great visuals with cool dragon designs (not spyro with his bit ugly head) and then they forgot to make it tolerable to play. The beauty of the originals is how the story was so simple. "There is a bad guy, collect shit and stop him" and it was SO FUN.

Okay this I can agree with. Compared to the original Spyro, the Legend trilogy was just not as fun to play. It was far too much "beat up all the bad guys and walk to next area." Too much combat, not enough platforming, which may have been fine if the combat was interesting.

Skylanders took a has-been popular character, redesigned him so apparently only newcomers and people who can easily warm up to a redesign, and put him inside what's actually a pretty fun game deep down. Not much replay value, though.

This is really the only reason I played this game LOL I beat the first LoS game.. rage quit the second, and forced myself to go through the.. 'ehh' gameplay in DotD just for the flying, two-player, and fucking around in it xD The combat system in those games was horrid and way too difficult, it really took away from the gameplay, otherwise I feel like I would have liked it a lot more.

Like I said, it's not for everyone, but it's FAR from Sonic 06's league. Plus, a lot of people who loath Skylanders refuse to even give the game a chance. I could understand if you hated the game after actually playing it past the first few levels (Cause it does NOT make the best first impression), but I've met very few people who dislike the game and have played it at all.

With an art direction like that, you can't blame them. If you can't pull in Spyro fans with Spyro alone, because of crucifying Spyro, well... Then maybe someone shouldn't have made him ugly, and turned it really stupid in every commercial.

Oh, and let's not forget it's an EA game, known for being rushed and moneygrubby.

I think Skylanders Spryo is actually kind of cool, to be honest. I didn't like the design at first, but the second time I looked at it, he already grew on me.

Also, Skylanders is made by Toys For Bob, NOT by EA. Heck, it's not even PUBLISHED by EA, it's published by Activision for Pete's sake.

Spyro is one of my all time favourite games.

Me too. I remember on Year of The Dragon seriously struggling with this one area inside that Egypt/Mummy level when I was younger.

Where you had to ride on those weird levitating kart things with canon's & shoot the other opponents. It was at night.

Couldn't do it for ages & kind of gave up. Went back to it years later & completed it.

I always find if I abandon something & go back to it years down the line, I can do it no problem.

That's a fun challenge, but the worst was the Sasquatch Six. Then again, it was worth all the frustration to hear Hunter's victory rant.

I love this! Spyro was the first game I ever played on PlayStation. So many good memories. Now excuse me while I go fire up my PSone and play Spyro: Year of the Dragon once again. Oh and Insomniac Games never sold the rights to Spyro, their publisher, Vivendi Universal Games (Universal Interactive) owned the rights to Spyro and sold them after Insomniac Games moved on to Ratchet & Clank.

Good times, Spyro introduced me to solid gameplay and storytelling that I loved and Elora...damn I fell in love with her when she was introduced in the second game. I had a PS2 and a copy of Spyro the Dragon PS1 sitting in my desk for years. Got it running and realized I couldn't save so I just played through the game nonstop for two days, getting 120% completion...felt like a boss too...

Oh you... I just received my A Hero's Tail copy today... And I can say it is the closest game to original Spyro series. Yet music reminds me of Ratchet and Clank + Jak and Daxter (expectialy when you are near the temple early in the game).

Well Ratchet & Clank was developed by Insomniac Games.

Although they sold Spyro after the first three.

FYI, Spyro never been Insomaniac's. Rights are in Sierra's (in fact, Activision Blizzard now) hands, and Insomanic were only a developer. It's like you said that Relic Entertainment owns rights to Warhammer 40.000 universe. :)

It's official, I'm the only full Spyro fan left. I actually like almost the entire series. I think a lot of people aren't giving Skylanders a chance.

They definitely ruined the chain with this new Legend of Spyro series. They make him look goofy.
I like A Hero's Tail because the graphics are very nice, making Hunter look even better.
One thing I am not sure others have noticed is how there are some erotic elements in it.
For one if you have the camera 3/4 rear shot of Spyro, you can see he does not stand still, but his hips slowly thrust. Blink uses a butt manuever to break things. When he is clinging to one of those vertical moving rocks and you move the camera to look at his side, you'll see he slowly thrusts his hips, and when he puts his head between his legs (what they claim is protection against explosions of his bombs in close-proximity) he moves his head up and down, like he's giving himself a blowjob.
And then there is Otto, the surfing otter Spyro meets. He's clearly young and horny, for Spyro. If you come up behind him he doesn't notice Spyro, so you see he does various actions including rubbing his board. But when he catches sight of Spyro his tail starts wagging strongly, he has his eyes and his mouth wide open and looks like he's breathing heavy, like Spyro gets him all horny.

I may not care for Skylanders Spyro but it's nice to know that he is still around. I wish they'd remake his classic games in HD, I bet lots of kids today would love him just as much as old fans back then. Haha anyway, your style of Spyro is too awesome. You captured the cartoon quality of Insomniac but put your own twist as well and it looks great. Lovely work!

This just gives me feels, seriously!
