I've been in a very emotional state as of late. I'm not really sure if I'm angry or sad, happy or mellow or what is actually going on inside my head (come to think of it, I'm quite sure I'm not happy). I guess it's just having trouble processing some things.
In this state I've had a really hard time producing any music at all. I've made a couple of synth patches that I'm content with, but any sort of in depth work on complete songs, no, that will probably not happen for another while either.
So, this piece came to as I was making a few changes to a couple of my synth patches for alternative versions. I was listening to a chord progression from, I think it was, Fred Baker - Friends Forever when I felt that I could change some of the notes.
As I was changing the highest notes that made up the melodic part of the chords I ended up changing just about all of them and making additions. Then I threw in more synths and added more, and more. I made the pad synth and added even more to it. Then a 4/4 beat followed by a bass and then the snare roll, hats and snare pattern. Then I threw it together in the pattern sequencer in a way I found natural.
I would like to note though, that this piece is anything but polished. There is nothing polished about it, I've merely done some simple EQing and volume adjustments beyond what work I've done with effects on the various synth patches before, just to remove what anomalies that ruined the whole of the piece for me then and there.
So, like I said, this is merely my pure, un-polished, real emotions. It's not mixed to sound great, it's mixed to be an outlet.
