I'd steer clear of sunset gourami in petstores, they're dosed with a lot of steroids to get the bright orange and gold hues, and usually severely shortens the poor thing's life span.
I don't like it either, it's why i usually try to get fish right as they're being shipped in, so they don't have to spend as long in such a stressing environment.
