This image features her facial appearance as it ranges from her perceived age of 3 all the way to her getting-close-to-kicking-the-bucket-age of 3,072. The larger number beside these ages is the approximate time span in our years.
Over time, as a succubus or incubus ages, they end up trading beauty for power. The Elders who punished her were pretty rough looking, so it's quite possible they were somewhere in the 2,000-2,500 year range (500,000 to 625,000 years).
Penance's current age is around 20 (5,000) years old. While she can assume her future (or past) forms, she cannot demonstrate the power of those forms until she has actually reached those ages and acquired that power. But there's nothing wrong with using that hideous appearance to scare the crap out of someone!

Yeesh.. she use to be sexy. Hard to believe she will get stuck like that... Shame she will, too. Also... slow aging much. Dragons age faster then that.
But I guess I am fine with that. These are not the sexy mistresses that I would like them to be. These are almost eldritch things that I originally thought were formless. This also gives me idea how to properly make a good kaiju out of one without going down that K-Girl route.

I'm not sure what you're asking. The comic Mariano did was just a funny comic. Heck, all the comics I've drawn of Penance thus far are just funny comics. The "real" canon story of her will show her and her activities as they really are, not overblown or humorous as I've sketched these past couple years.
The easiest way to visually describe the situation would be like this: Penance would normally exist in a reality outside our own, and her actual physical form would never be seen by someone who did not exist in the same realm as she did. Since she would normally appear to her victims in their dreams, she would resemble whatever form they most desired. But now that she is physically stuck in an alien form (the bear), she doesn't have the option of changing her appearance unless it's all in her victim's head.
So, for example, if she was somehow back in her native world 500,000 years from now, and looked like that last profile picture in the above submission (in her physical reality), she could still appear as the younger version of herself or anyone else in a victim's dreams. She could also resume her former physical appearances, much like the way she can appear as the older, uglier version of herself (as seen in "Dead Bitch"). The only difference would be the amount of power she wields. She could change her appearance (in her native world) to look like she's ancient, but she would only have the power that she currently has at her present physical age. Conversely, when she is ancient, she could change her appearance to look like she's in her twenties again, yet this time, she would have the power of her ancient demon form.
Hope that made sense!

Hm.. that did. So overall, she is a formless entity right down it it... supposedly female, if females exist on the level of existence she does that is.
So as a succubus.. how does she... ya know... breed? I seen a picture with her mother(the one which the chicken gag) so I assume she is able too.. or can she in a sense do anything for anyone?
Only curious of course. Shes turning into a interesting character for me.

No, she exists in a physical form in her own world. Think of it like this: the incubi and succubi live in a reality removed from ours. They don't sleep, but instead perform a practice similar to astral travel, where their "spirit", or a component thereof, travels to a different realm and locates victims, whom they eventually attach to and feed off.
Breeding would likely be pretty fierce, since both incubi and succubi are, by their natures, striving for dominance.
Maybe I'll doodle up an illustrated chart to make it simpler to understand. Several folks have asked about this same thing, so I might do that.

Ah, from the wonder years to the golden years; sounds about right with the age progressioning of Penance. -heheh-
Thanks 4 posting this wonderful bit of info/chart diagram on her, J; great detail with each age difference thaat is so Heavily well done.
Take care as always, bro; later.

Her older appearance reminds me of those nightmarish 80s fantasy movies like LEGEND and THE DARK CRYSTAL.
What's the secret to her longevity? Eating ponies? (Or maybe that would reduce her lifespan?)
(Words cannot describe the joy I feel knowing that there is someone on this rock who sees that piece of little girl drivel as the patronizing cavity it really is. Never change you mind.)
Come at me Bronies. Penance is hungry!

They just live a long time. This is just what the physical form looks like. Even if she looked like the last picture of there, she would still appear as whatever beautiful thing you desire in your dreams. Their physical appearance has no bearing on their appearance in dreams (which is never their actual appearance anyway!)...

They don't live in hell. That's a religious view of them. They exist in a world just as physical as ours (or Caterwaul/Skunkworks's), but leech energy off victims in other worlds/realities. I will be drawing up a simple chart to explain this, since several folks have been asking such things.
Not even demons know where they go when they die, since none have ever come back to tell!

                    I can't quite picture her allowing such a thing..she doesn't strike me as a cheery sort..but..then. large demons generally don't..that's why when they are it is all the more unnerving. ; }
So..she's a succubus, yes?
What sort of fellas is she trying to reel in as she gets older? I don't think anyone ever said demons prey exclusively on humans. So..are there other species that an older demon would poke at instead? Do they have their own lore surrounding them?

Victims never see the true form of the succubus or incubus; they only see whatever form they want to see most. The demon is never actually in the same physical realm as the victim. Think of it as an astral vampire situation. I'm going to draw up a simple chart to illustrate this since folks have been asking about it.
It doesn't matter how old the demon is physically, however. They can appear whatever age they wish to be seen as.

The bear form doesn't age at all. So in 1000 years, she'll look the same as she does now!
The Skunkworks site is currently empty. I need to reinstall FTP so I can reconnect and upload stuff. "By The Tail" is likely dead, as the original artist has no desire to return to anthro art of any sort.

I liked her looks from "3" to "96". Such adorable!
But Demons don't get old. They wise, beautiful, have wings, a spade tail and foots (what is the placement of hooves for dark (not unholy) beings that aren't in the hell?). They are neutral (against devils and angels) and helps humans (btw for computers we must give thanks to demons, they gave Knowledge for scientists) sometimes protect us from devil and god. Sometimes it's bad, sometimes it's good.
After "192" it's more likely a devil/imp or other unholy c*ap...
Anyway good job!

Penance and her kind are just as physical and real as you or I, and they exist in a physical world not located in our particular reality. They do age, and grow more powerful as they age. Their bodies eventually crumble and decay, though the entity that is the demon does not actually "die", per se.
There are all kinds of demons, and they have all been drawn differently. No two depictions are ever truly alike, since there is always room for artistic interpretation.
Penance is not necessarily evil, but she's not really good either. As long as she's not crossed, she'll leave you alone. But any threat she encounters is likely to be dealt with in a very permanent fashion!

It's by no means a close resemblance, but there's something about the expression. And the dried up crustiness.

And yet I can't help but be reminded of the goth-vampire fanboy in one of Johnen Vasquez's "Meanwhile" strips.
That fucking vampire.

Yeah, I don't really bother with video games. I've got a few systems and plenty of games (mostly racing or GTA-style games), but I rarely play any of them anymore.
But I've been a huge fan of the horror genre since I was about 7 years old, so that might explain the "dark" thing!
