Owen and Cope were working together at Thanatos Industries and as usual got into an argument. Cope won the argument, but his final statement didn't sit well with Owen. So Owen punched him in the face sending poor Cope to the ground face first. After this the two were separated and Cope got to run his own small division though still working under Owen. Just not directly in contact with him. This is before Owen got his fire.
