These little funky aliens 8D
Just a little practice again. Done at work today, they said i'm free for 2h to paint what i want as long as i learn something from it.
Anyway...Heavy photo reference used! I just wanted to learn colors, not form. I still can't paint something like that just out of my head ^^;

AWWWWW! What's not to love about an adorable praying mantis?! I once saw a very large brown one while I was walking home from school, sadly it was in the parking lot and I felt I should have picked it up and brought it somewhere better, but it was freezing that day >_< I'm a terrible person blaaaah xP

Did you know the reason the female decapitates the male when they mate is because the males actually have something in their head that makes them incapable of mating? I can just imagine how the praying mantis community figured that one out.

Seriously, though. Ironic that the entire point for animals to live is to reproduce, but a praying mantis actually has to die to do that. I loved Zoology :3
