Well, here it is... February, 2013... and it's time for another 'sweeps' month - featuring more classic sketches and doodles, plus 'photo-ops' (of myself and some celebrities), and a few new images from yours truly!
I begin with a recent photo of myself, taken at the 24th Annual Scrabble Awards Night last month, in the clubhouse (where weekly meetings of Scrabble Club 276 are held) at Veteran's Park in Lauderhill, Florida. Having been a member of this club for over ten years, I was honored to participate in this event - sharing the moment with twenty-six other members who were in attendance.
Usually, Scrabble Awards Night are held on the first Wednesday of the New Year; but because the first Wednesday came one day after New Year's Day this year, club president Sandee Bloom decided to postpone it for one week (so she can make extra time in preparing room in her E-mail newsletter for all Scrabble Club members - who have computers and mobile devices).
There were numerous awards handed out (for such categories as 'Highest Scoring Winning Game', 'Most Consecutive Wins', 'Highest Scoring Bamdinger' [a word played in a Scrabble(R) game, worth 100 points or more], etc.), snack foods (cake, cookies, pretzels, etc.) were served, and a 'special gift' is handed out to all of its members (or, at least, to the ones who had played a minimum of 64 games during a whole year).
Previous 'special gifts' had included a T-shirt, a mini-cooler bag, a computer mousepad, a cushioned stadium seat, a plastic bottle 'shirt' (to keep one's beverage cold), and a mini-plushie of a lion (wearing a T-shirt that reads "GRRRRReat Scrabble(R) Player!"), all of which were customized for our club.
This year's 'special gift' was a plushie of a frog (also wearing a T-shirt, this time reading "Toad-ily Awesome Scrabble(R) Player"). Using her digital camera, Sandee was nice enough to snap a picture of me (already in my Scrabble Club 276 T-shirt), with said frog plushie posed on my shoulder.
With all this celebrating, we still managed to find the time to play two games of Scrabble (compared to the usual three games we play during our weekly three-hour meetings)... Naturally, I'd lost both games. (I also didn't get any awards this year, but it didn't matter. I still had a good time!)

It was one of the few photos taken of me at the Scrabble Awards Night. Believe it or not, Sandee asked me to use her digital camera to snap photos of all of the winners that night (and since I didn't win any awards this year, I had more than enough time to comply). Hopefully, I'll post another 'photo-op' of me at the ceremony, later this month.
