I know...Last murder with a legally acquired class III (select fire capable) was by a cop in the early 90's. (North Hollywood's were illegally modified from semi). The only difference between the rifles most of these spree killers used and mine (early 1945 mfg Garand) were the fact that they fired less powerful rounds (and were not used in any real war). Hell, IIUC, much of the current military doctrine is single shot, auto only for suppression.
I helped teach an EMS class a while ago...during psych class, I usually 'killed' at least one student each time, just with how they approached or acted (and this was with them knowing that I would be combative...don't get that in the real world). Lots of stuff is dangerous.
