It's by me, huzzah!
It's a little gift for Siroc, who is currently drawing a little comic which inspired this piece. the story is that a violinist has to play for her life as her city has been invaded by barbarians; failing to please them would not end well!
Recorded live~ I would like to thank coughing man #20365 for the well timed percussive effect.

I cannot express how amazing this is. I really am touched that you would do this for me (Unless composing beautiful music like this takes little effort on your part, which wouldn't surprise me, honestly). And I can't get enough of the part at 2:29, hands down my favorite 16 seconds ever!
I'll be using this as my new theme song, if you don't mind. :D
And again, thank you ten thousand times over! A hundred days of games and merriment shall be held in your honor!

Ah, you know you deserve it! And no, it's not easy - this was fairly 'quick' but I spent a good three days to make it as good as I could. And yes, it's my favourite part as well! I would have written a whole piece like that, but then it'd send any listener in a state of ecstasy. I have a responsibility for the common man, damn it!
And you're more than welcome to; just remember to preserve the fallen warriors in formaldehyde! I need them for my... collection.

I don't think enough people appreciate just how hard it is to play the violin, until they hear someone untrained attempt it. Fingernails on a chalkboard come to mind listening to a beginner attempt it. You don't get that effect with any other instrument.
This performance is impressive. Not only because of the speed of the runs, but the accuracy of them. Unlike a guitar, the violin has no frets. You have to put the finger in precisely the right spot, and for high notes, when the difference between G and a G flat is a fraction of a fraction of an inch, it is very difficult.
You make it sound easy. When you play three strings at once in the run near the end, I was extremely impressed.
Very well done.

Well, many people don't appreciate how much work anything takes! But yes, the violin is particularly harsh in the hands of a beginner. Outside of the stringed instruments I guess some early wind instruments like the serpent also have that drawback
I miss the renaissance, fretted viols are much less troublesome, except for the constant tuning and fret adjustments. And thank goodness I think in meters, so the high notes still have a comprehendable distance form one another. But joking aside, I'm happy to see that you can understand the technical difficulties of the music, I just hope that I haven't given up any musicality in exchange for unfeeling virtuosity in the piece.
And thanks, I'm happy to hear it! I really got hooked chordal progressions after playing Ernst's transcription of 'Der Erlkönig' for solo violin.

Well, years of practicing yes, of course! But I just think you can't be older than maybe early twenties, and the way you play ... It it punctual and sharp as a razor blade, but still filled with such passion! Oh dear, whenever I try to comment something I really like and someone I admire... I turn into a schoolgirl in front of her favorite boy-band star.
Aw, thank you! There's something about the violin that is just... beautiful, I guess it's because the timbre is very human; the gentle bowing caresses the soul, the confident chords are full of determination, like a man bellowing on a mountain top, while the high pitched wails cry out to the sky. And it's possible to imitate so many nuances found while singing... and beyond, which is why I think it's one of the most expressive instruments, along side other strings, like the cello and viola (the double bass is a bit low, but I don't disregard it!)
I would imagine that road is long... I remember listening to a girl take a voice lesson when working with the opera and I thought she was wonderful; and then after all the opera people were standing around chuckling over how bad she was. I never would have known the difference and then again they were being just a little catty.

Well, they have high standards; there's something in the interpretation that's sometimes more important than voice quality alone. If you know the text and music well you'll do vibratos on certain words and while singing straight on others, alongside all sorts of small nuances that colour the music and text. Only a trained ear will spot the expressions but all will feel in some way or another. That's why you can distinguish a great singer from a good singer. I guess they used an overly harsh language, but I think that's what they meant.
