Any way for suggestions: how about a small "forest" of seaweed and fan corals and such in the background...and a little glowy plankton thingy in the middle of the star?

Great, thanks! Someone on dA suggested making the star a... wait for it... starfish! I can't believe I hadn't thought of that. But I'll definitely add your forest idea. I love fan coral.
