I just got the wind screen and hot shoe adapter last week and finally figured out the optimal settings yesterday after running a series of tests. I got the crimson fur and foam wind screen form furryheadwindscreens.com (matches Canon red in daylight, almost purple in the dark), the adapter, anti-glare screen protector, viewfinder extender, and eye piece from B&H. The 5DMKII, Zoom H1 mic, and Manfrotto Compact photo/video tripod from Best Buy. Total cost about $3,000 because I got the mic and tripod for free with rewards points. I really just needed a good microphone because I want to keep my video budget low because photography is more important, but a shotgun mic would be nice. Next I want to buy the 100-400mm lens, which will run me $1,600, because my cheap 75-300mm lens just isn't cutting it. I'm thinking about building a glide cam out of pvc pipe and other parts from Lowes for under $50 compared to the hundreds that real ones cost.
