ever want to take professional looking photos but can't figure out what's missing? Good lighting is the key. These lights with bulbs cost around $50 when a set of real lighting can cost around $250. one very important factor is to make sure the white balance tempurarure is around 6500 Kelvin and all match. These are known as "day light" because its the same color light as mid day and appear blue. The most common bulb is "soft white" which is the same color as a sun set and appears yellow, which is incorrect for most applications. You can use existing lighting at home, or find these at Wal~Mart for $8 a piece. A basic set up is to have soft defused light at 45 degrees in front of tje subject on both sides. Then you can use hard spot lighting to fill in dark spots. They dont have to be exactly like this, and its always good to exparament with positioning. You can use any non reflective fabric as a back drop, a low thread count cotton bed sheet would be a good start. You can also try using white poster paper for a back drop and shooting at an angle so it gives back lighting, but then you may have to venture into manual exposure settings because your camera will meter based off of the bright white. This was all shot and edited using a smart phone (sgn2) just to show how easy it is.
