Based on my previous ideas, I tried to settle for a balance between his original color scheme, and the rastafarian / organic (3 and 4) design. I'll probably be going with this idea, and thanks to everyone who gave their input.
I might be making another "suit made out of scraps" thing in the future, but with the character based around that idea and not a set theme. Maybe a raccoon or something? In any case it was just kind of hard to keep track of all of the colors for him, and some of the techniques I used on the original are kind of obsolete now.
