Shockwave 1

Was able to capture a very interesting phenomenon on camera when my crew did some test dets near an old coal quarry. There was just enough coal dust/oil/gas mixture in the air that the shock waves of each det had purple hues. I did not notice this until I looked at the video frame by frame.

I don't know what kind of camera you were using but if it doesn't have an infrared filter will be picked up as a purple color kind of like that. You can check it out with a tv remote.

OP
A TV remote is designed to work in the IR range so you are correct to use that analogy, however several others using cameras that were way better than mine saw the same thing in other dets. I have not seen this outside of the coal quarry where we worked.

That just makes this indecent more interesting.

This wasn't taken with an iPhone was it? Several people at work have mentioned that the latest iPhone pictures have a lot of purple "lens flare" type artifacting due to the new sapphire lens cover.

This was taken on a cannon digital camera.
