I was so dubious when I saw the trailer for this movie. Like, you're taking the paranormal teen romance bandwagon a little too far now guys stop. But it was hilarious, it was heartfelt, and surprisingly a hell of a lot more meaningful and metaphorical than any of the other paranormal romance tripe smearing the big screen lately. Bought the book and loved that too.
There isn't anything about this movie I would change. Gave me warm fuzzy feelings... and had zombies! Though I did feel a little wrong in the head for finding R so damn good looking.
(The movie is Warm Bodies, in case you didn't know...)

The author wrote a prequel but I haven't read it, though I think nailing down a solid reason for the zombies' creation would ruin the metaphor - they stand for the lifeless, stagnant, disconnected state of our society more than a biological plague (er, or that's how I took it XP)
You should read the book.... As always with Movies from Books, the book is, truly better.
Though the movie was fantastic! I went to see it the night it came out with my mother (who, surprisingly was the one to introduce me to said book. Usually it's the other way around with me trying to convince her to read paranormal book stuff).

I've read the book and seen the movie and honestly preferred the movie. The book was excellent, yes, but it got so convoluted that the message sort of muddied up. I did prefer ONE aspect of the books ending but otherwise I felt the movie expressed the message in much purer terms.
I saw the movie. I will say this for those that are interested in watching it : Do not think of it ill because of its start. It's amazing later on!
At first, I won't lie. I was almost gonna compare it with twilight <_<. But then I started laughing. Like... alot, ya know D:? It was some good ol black humour that we rarely see these days on movies or TV series!
I couldn't help but compare it with twilight though. the girl has freedom, has a powerful personality, is actually scared of having a monster by her side. The protagonist is so freaking hot for a rotten walking corpse. O=o but damn he was hot.
SPOILER:
I kinda didn't like that when they were using the make up, it really seemed like they were removing the real deal with water :P

Just myself got back from seeing this, and I, too, was impressed. Definitely hit all the Romeo and Juliet notes, but it did it well, and the humor overcame all the rough parts of the movie. Had no idea there was a book, though! Going to have to go check that out. Lovely art, you captured them quite well. :)
Yep, I saw this movie with the mindset of "Well, I guess they're trying to apply Zombieland humor to romance now?" Turned out, I was kind of right, and pleasantly so. I was really happy with this movie, and I will say that the whole movie really was a blast from title to credits.
PS Please tell me I'm not the only one who noticed the "R and Julie"/"Romeo and Juliet" thing. :P

When I watched the movie in the first seconds I was like "Finally! someone is making a movie of zombies being the zombies the thought focus, not the survivors" and then it started that whole heart warming up because of the vision of true love, I just laughed my ass off, but I can't wait to see the movie anyway, it looks good XP
If you want a good zombie movie that keeps a lot of the focus on the zombies, I might suggest you see George A. Romero's "Land of the Dead."
It's a very interesting film, and much of the film's focus is that the zombies are beginning to evolve. They suddenly have the ability to think, learn, use tools, and even communicate with each other to some small degree. The story involving the humans is only a little interesting compared to the zombie segments. But there's a good balance between the two stories that makes the film enjoyable.

There were many things I preferred about the book. I feel like they left out a couple of really heavy details. Including the ending you mentioned (Which I preferred). I also felt like the book added a lot more meaning to every move that was made. But I understand that it was hard to put all that in a movie. But You're right about sometimes the book getting kind of muddled. With all their flash overs it got really confusing sometimes. Either way, I think the movie was amazing on its own and I LOVE your renditions of it. Especially this one. <3
I recently realized that the guy who plays 'R' in "Warm Bodies" is the same guy who plays 'Jack' in that new movie coming out called "Jack The Giant Slayer." (which is really weird seeing as "Jack" started production at least a year or two before "Bodies" did, and yet "Bodies" came out first)
To be fair, I'm more likely to see "Jack the Giant Slayer" than "Warm Bodies." That movie looks like it's going to do to zombies what "Twilight" did to vampires: ruin them. As much as I liked the book, which was a shockingly intriguing and fascinating read, the movie doesn't seem that interesting.

To each their own. But if you don't mind me rambling, I think it's really shitty of people who haven't even seen it to compare it to Twilight, which set the precedent for worst pop culture icon in recent memory. Other than an undead romantic male lead (and the romance is rather secondary to the plot imo), Warm Bodies and Twilight have zero in common. Everyone hates Twilight. I get that. I read the books, I saw the films, and they are without question horribly written. Warm Bodies, both film and book, has everything which Twilight lacks (a story, relatable characters, dark humour, a meaningful message about what it means to be alive or dead) and tons are dismissing it based on this flimsy comparison. If you ask me, that kinda makes the Twi-haters worse than the Twihards. At least the Twihards come by their irrational love of Edward Cullen honestly - Twihaters are ruining everything remotely, barely related by flimsy similarities and threadbare associations. I love zombie movies, and Warm Bodies is going right near the top of the list of my favourite zombie movies ever (along with Shaun of the Dead, 28 Days Later and Zombieland), so I'd really appreciate it if people who haven't even seen the thing would stop citing 'Twilight' as the reasoning.
Fair enough. I probably deserved that rant, after all I've never seen the movie so I have no right to judge. I agree that Twilight was horribly written and I had that mindset in mind when I read Warm Bodies. I was shocked at how amazing Warm Bodies was as a story. The characters were interesting and very well-developed, the romance that was being developed throughout the story was fun to experience, and (my personal favorite part) the ideas the author used actually give an in-depth insight into how the zombie mind functions were very thought-provoking and fascinating. This could easily become one of my favorite zombie stories. At least now I'm more likely to see the movie adaption of Warm Bodies than the movie adaption of World War Z. I don't care what anyone says, World War Z looks like a terrible movie, which is a big slap in the face to the book it's representing.
Saw this last thursday with the BF and absolutely loved it. The humor was a bit dry at times, but hey, we're talking zombies, cant get juicy with that or they'd be alive! It fit pretty well tbh.
As for the love thing and "connection to twilight", I thought the same at first, but the difference between the two pairings is that one actually started and stayed pretty damn platonic throughout the movie and then progressed about...30 minutes before it ended. As is, that same pairing isn't quite...necrophilia as it's more of the metaphorically dead (like you said before to other comments) or else...he wouldn't be able to warm up. Think of it as a hostile, conscious, coma..with constant hunger for brains (I LOVED the reasoning for going for the brains in it!)..idk if that's the best representation of the zombies in this but it's the only thing I can think of atm.
Lovely drawing, Demi :3
