Here are the six main life stages for a folkin!
Baby folkin have no feathers on any of their legs, but make up for it with substantial amounts of fluff.
In the young adult phase, the front leg/arm wings have grown in but are incapable of sustaining flight.
By the late adult stage, feathers have come in on the hind legs and have grown out of the sides of the ribcage, allowing for short periods of gliding by jumping and splaying all limbs outwards. Arm wings increase in size and length as well.
Elders are capable of true flight, able to achieve lift off under their own power instead of jumping off of high ledges. Their arm and leg wings continue to grow, while the initial growth of rib feathers has stopped.
And finally pictured here, the ancients. Folkin arm and leg feathers never really stop growing, and the few individuals that live long enough to become ancients are often misidentified as fuzzy dragons. They can fly endlessly and spend most of their time drifting through the skies in a half awake state.
The sixth stage is not pictured here, and is only rumored to exist. There are stories of folkin who have lived and grown so long, they resemble eastern dragons. But those are mostly tall tales and none have been seen in living memory.
The length of all folkin's bodies grows as they age.
Barring disease, weaponry, starvation or dehydration, folkin can live for a very long time. Their true age span is unknown.
