I can't stop drawing birds, it's like a disease! Anyway, sometimes if I'm struggling with an art block, I pick a random color scheme and paint a picture using it. How orange+brown+greyish-pink equals a phoenix in my mind, I have no idea. Probably just an excuse to draw an unusual phoenix; this one is based loosely on hummingbirds and kingfishers. The wing anatomy is super funky, but again, this was a color exercise more than anything.

The flowers are totally made up, although the ones on the edges of the image are vaguely based on jasmine.
