This piece is my contribution to a project for the FC 2008 art show, with 11 other artists, of the 12 signs of the Chinese Zodiac.
Most of the artists were able to draw their own Zodiac sign, with only a few overlaps. I was born in the year of the Rooster - and my sign is the Metal Rooster.
So here is a Rooster in elegant Chinese robes, playing an erhu. All 12 signs of the zodiac will be displayed together on a panel at the FC artshow, so be sure to check it out if you are planning to attend.
This piece is done in acrylics on 8"x10" illustration board.

I was born a dragon. Don't suppose you'd have a link to the work done for that year? And I feel like I should know this bit already, but how do I determine what element I am in accordance with the zodiac? I'm self-proclaimed a water elemental but I don't know how to determine it by zodiac.
I haven't seen the dragon artwork yet - it may not be finished yet...
And if you want to know what element of dragon you are, look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_(zodiac)

Extremely impressive job. Nice to meet another who was also borne during the year of the rooster. if I had to guess i'd say the year you were born would have to be 1981 if your the metal rooster. Though I kinda imagined my rooster with more of a metal axe guitar. (I was born on 1981)
I don't know very much about it, but each year of 12 years corresponds to a different animal - and every 12 years, the same animal has a different element, which affects it differently according to Chinese zodiac belief. So in 1981, the animal is rooster, and the element is metal... But then 1993, the animal is rooster again but the element is water. So one year in every 48 years has the same animal and element combination. And they all have symbolic meanings which I'm not very familiar with.
