Thanks! I know it's hard to tell, but . . .

Oh-ho, nice angle. :P And Rak's comment made me notice the up-the-shirt shot, that's great, I want to say maybe the tail should be up a bit more, in placement on the body, that is. Well done though, I love those arms, them're beautiful they is. Good work on the colorin' as well, very nice all around.
Thanks, Starfig! A tried a few different spots for the tail before I went with this. I put it there after looking at a real hippo and figuring out where it would be if this guy were standing on all fours. But, you may be right - it may have worked better up higher. Thanks for the comment :)
The tail probably *does* work where it is, if that's the anatomy we're looking at.
But in that case it's his clothing that's misleading: the way his shorts ride up so much higher, combined with the position of his right rumpcheek due to his raised leg, makes it look like his whole rump is above his tail, putting his tail around the spot where you would normally expect to find the masculine member. If the shorts ended just above the tail then it'd be easier to see what's going on.

Are these the hippos at your zoo, by chance?

Yes! Thems my girls. We have Maggie, who is the grandma. She's almost 34 I believe (next month is her birthday). Then her granddaughters, Zambezi and Kasai (she just had a birthday last month). The parents and another sibling live in Denver. If you want more info go to www.cmzoo.org. It's an awesome zoo and world famous because of our giraffes.
That's very nicely done, Pachy. The only thing I'm thinking is that possible his back should be a tad wider. *shrugs* Could just be an aesthetic thing on my part, however. Overall, you've drawn him incredibly well- the only wonder is that he managed to stop himself at the line and didn't go bowling down the alley after the ball!
Somethin' about fat guys (not this fat, though) and bowling that often sees the two paired up...
Nice angle there, and good scenery. Good job displaying that sole, and designing the clothing. As for the river-horse himself, well, I dunno. Each section of blubber is made distinct, which is good, and you even bothered to draw the hair at the end of the snout. Oh, and Tolstoy's comment reminded me that the pose is worth mentioning; nicely done there.

Thanks for the feedback. I guess there's something about the hippo that doesn't look right to you, but you can't put your finger on it. That's OK. I'm sure I'll see something beside the placement of the bowling ball and how the lanes on the left aren't the right width in a few days time. I'm not a professional artist, so each drawing is a learning experience for me ;)
What's your average? :P
Also Pachyman, awesome work! Heh, the loft he put on that ball reminds me a lot of the way I used to bowl... I'd have the ball past the arrows before it'd hit the lanes, and pretty much everyone within a 5-lane radius of me could tell when it finally hit... I got in trouble with the owner of the alley I bowl at over that, so I've tamed my release down a lot.
