Even though I'm a little late for Christmas, I couldn't pass up an opportunity like THIS to post one of my earliest handmade greeting card offerings for the 'fat furry' audience...
My original plan was to create a different card each year, depicting one of these obese characters wearing a Santa Claus suit (or some equally appropriate holiday garb, like an elf's outfit, or even The Nutcracker), while standing on a platform with the year (of the card's creation) printed on the front.
Sergei the Lion was my first (and, regrettably, my last) subject in this series of greeting cards. The platform below his bulky body read 2000 (the year I drew this image), but I jokingly rendered an image of my 'fursona' inside the card, asking Sergei, "Is that the year, or how much you weigh?!" - to which the overly-large lion replied, "Flatterer!"
Originally intended as a black-and-white image to be photocopied on colored paper (for distribution to 'fat furry' friends worldwide), I took the original holiday art and added color and some shading effects to it through Photo Impression. Oh, well... Better late than never... "Merry Christmas!" :)
P.S. On the back of said card, I drew Sergei's belt buckle in mid-flight, after it (inevitably) popped off of his Santa suit! Why I didn't think of including the buttons, I'll never know...
