Not to be shown up by her fellow time-travellers, the coyote determined she'd pick up a unique mode of transportation to make a REAL splash at the party.
Promotional image for TFF. Their theme this year is 'The Time Travellers Ball'. The only directions I got for the art was 'draw characters from different time periods that don't belong together'. So naturally, this happened.
Prints of this will be in the bags of one of the upgraded memberships (not sure which, sorry!).
I know little to nothing about dinosaur anatomy. In fact, this is the first real piece I've ever done of a dinosaur, so. . . you'll have to go easy on me. The fellow there is an Allosaurus, one of my favorites. If the size between the two characters seems off, I guess. . . just assume he's a young allosaurus. I had to draw the chick large enough that she wouldn't disappear into the rest of the piece. Also, she had to be able to straddle her mount.
. . . NOT meant to sound DIRTY!

I watched you paint this. So freaking awesome. :)
My only critique would be that the coyote looks very cut and pasted onto the Allosaurus. Maybe it needs more shading under the leg? Maybe it's the contrast of metal and skin? Idk. The collar blends in very well. But in particular that leg... just looks so out of place.

Looks to me like it's about right. if anything, it might be a little too big. but art is art and this is lovely.

*laughs* Cowboy hat and all. Heck, for a first crack at dinosaurs, that's amazing. Allosaurus is my facourite as well (had great looking feet and a nice length to the arms), and for a young one you've done a good job at making the flares over the eyes small (they got larger as they aged). For the coyote character, naturally the thing I love most is that despite the elaborate body armor, she's still bare-pawed. For a crazy paw-lover like me, that's as good as nude. ^^; Also, ,excuse the ignorance, but is TFF another furry con?
Only complaint: Lack of feathers! X3 I keep waiting to see people do art where the discovery that the majority of the dinos were likely FEATHERED is encorporated... but alas, so few do. X3
Otherwise: phenomenal. Though, as a complete literary geek, all I could think of was Harry Dresden riding into battle against the necromancers/zombies on Sue (from the Chicago Field Museum, who was just here in my city, and I saw!)
Different dinos, I know, but still a similar enough concept for me to make the jump.
Always an entertaining concept, and moreso when it's blatantly obvious that the characters don't mesh in a natural way. :)
