sculpt for
pandamcgee's panda partial! :)
Took a while #_# The muzzle had to be cut off and redone as I didn't originally have the muzzle slanted down enough lol.
The nose is sculpey. So once the silicone mold is finished I will cut it off and make a plaster mold of it for silicone copies!
Pawpads are a derivative of panda-esque shaping. while also being kind of anthro.
A jawset will be made specifically for this blank! of course!
Eye size will remain what they are unless the commissioner wants them different!
and yes I will have this mold offered for resin blank order copies once it's made. (and once I am through my list of blanks to finish)
I think now I may work more on getting the muzzle to be more rectangular and less just rounded. and the nose while it's good for it to be out a little. is a bit too far out and it keeps bothering me #_#

The shape and slope of the face with that fat muzzle really does show a rat-esque shape. For the mask It's going to have to have a lot of bulking up around the head to give it more girth. With this I already pulled out the edges of the base of the sculpt so that it was a bit wider than the previous fox and raven. I'm hoping with different coloration it'll come together :) After sculpting I felt it kind of seemed sort of generic in shape. but That's what I got from all of the references I was looking at. I should probably go from this straight onto a rat. It would probably be pretty easy lol.
I think that once this guy is furred that he'll definitely be recognizable as a panda. I can understand the confusion with a rat profile, seeing as they both have sloping noses. Perhaps if you beef up his lips after casting the panda you can actually make a -rat- blank. This guy would easily transition to one...except his nose is a bit short for a rat. lol.
It's really hard to critique somethings shape prior to fur being attached to it and shaved down where it needs to be shaved down...especially when there are no pictures of shaved pandas to reference off the interwebs. Xb

I think this looks very much like a panda. Many people don't realize what the anatomy of some less common (or even more common!) animals looks like under the feathers and fur, which is essentially what you are making when you sculpt these. It is similar to taxidermy work in many aspects. I applaud your attention to detail and the actual anatomy of the animal, instead of what people 'think' that they look like! Well done. It will look fantastic once it is bulked and furred out.
I do offer these for sale ^_^ blank, jaw piece, silicone nose. foot and hand pads! However I have one cast of this I still need to make and a long list of blank orders ^_^ any time you're looking to finish the costume you want to make?
It also requires heavy padding to get the right look! like this http://www.furaffinity.net/view/10041678/ :)

Wonderful. Because honestly this (and the resulting head) is gorgeous!
I am not in a rush to complete it, but i am shooting for before next March, and if not then, by next July. (Really flexible)
You see, I am just happy that after attending our first furry convention my non-furry husband has shown a real interested in participating now! Whoo hoo!
How much would it be for the whole set of stuff?
And I'll admit, I have never worked with a resin blank before, so a little daunted (although in general I am a very crafty person and enjoy figuring stuff out ), so I was curious does the blank come cut and hinged?
I have made two all foam heads before (for my kids actually) so I haven't quite decided if that would be the way I would go for hubby too. If I did, how much would just the nose be? And how much for pawpads?
Thank you SO much for responding! I appreciate it! And if you can't answer the questions here then feel free to not me.
