From the view of someone from the UK, where most guns are already banned (other than some shotguns and rifles for farm use), I do not see why peope are getting so up-in-arms, per se, about gun control. It's not a perfect solution, but it's better than allowing everyone to run around with assault rifles.
And then there are some nations where virtually everyone owns a gun of some nature (I think it's a part of all men of a certain age being part of a malitia for having no standing army) that don't have these problems (or at least they don't get talkd about overseas). The guns themselves I believe aren't the core of the issue, it's the society ad culture in which they're in.
Of course, but America has implanted the image that guns are cool for so long. Look at the glorification of pretty much any war that they've ever been part of, and the NRA's seemingly endless spouts of nonsense about how good guns are. We could probably have a perfect utopia where nobody dislikes anyone, or where there is no need to be angry, but that's not going to happen. The best thing to do would be to limit the accessability of potentially lethal weapons.
"Best thing to do would be to limit the access to potentially lethal weapons."
Then the strong can molest the weak. The many defeat the few. And we would be totally dependent upon our "protectors". The act of attacking another, or retaliating in defense thereof, are two completely different things.
Frankly, yes, there are a lot of dangerous folk with guns in the US... But there are many many times more good folk with them. Moreover, most of the the highest crime rates are in those cities or US states that do not allow use of defensive firearms, or any other tools.
So, obviously it isn't the guns causing crimes.
Rather than banning dangerous things, and hoping for a utopia to arrive out of the blue, how about putting effort into actual changes socially and economically, that actually work to reduce violence and crime?
Because banning guns, knives, bricks, bottles and other dangerous things in some vain hope of achieving paradise, is a long wait for' train don't come.

Thing is, when you look back at the various incidents that keep bringing up the gun control debate, the guns involved often didn't belong to the shooter I believe. So, if mentaly disturbed and violent indivuduals aren't the ones who own the guns, how exactly is gun control helping to prevent these incidents?
Actually, I believe a number of the big media deals that bring the gun control debate front and center, like school shootings, were often done with some for of auto or semi-auto rifle (don't know if the were classified as assault rifles), something where the shooter could just keep pulling the trigger and not need to think about reloading for some time. I could be wrong though.
Preach it, bruh...preach it. Gotten soft on crime and think more about the criminal's rights than the victim's. Also it wouldn't hurt to take the paddle or hickory switch and tan the hide of young'uns to keep them from going down the wrong path so you don't have to deal with crap like this.
