Wow! When I saw this pic, it remind me of the game The Last Story. The character´s designs are sooo detailed like this. It´s really amazing.

This design looks very impressive, nice ornaments, composition and concept of snow fits perfectly for this character and with the design ;D, and the coloring is good too. By any chance is the final work of this character, or are you planning to add even more. Maybe a change of design because adding more will make an overdoing with the design XD The balance for the design counts too heh. But I´m pretty sure that someone skilled like you will find a way to improve it ^ ^

I was thinking of adding some armor to his elbows but I thought it was just a tad much. Basically the only thing that is missing is probably some designs on his pants and rendering.

You know, I already know that artists want to get better and better until they can´t and believe it in that is a good way to keep forward. But with what you have already and wishing to became even more better, man that sounds like a difficult challenge XD overpassing what you have now, you´re really something ^ ^

At the moment, my most obvious problem is trying to create intriguing yet intentional designs since I feel as if a majority of concept art nowadays don't actually follow the "concept" aspects when creating an idea. I found myself lacking in this area too so that's why I'm trying to think of valid designs...
the other problems would most likely be being slow and lack of clarity in areas.

That´s an interesting observation for the character´s development. But the comunication between you and the client is not that bad at all, right? By following the main concept and instructions for the idea is a good beginning. But yeh, the rest of the details must be taken in count. Maybe watching a lot of things that has something to do with the main concept might help you to get more ideas for ilustrating the concept with your style.
