Ok, it’s time for me to do a little showing off here of a recent purchase that I made.
You know I love my art and my cels and to that end I had to get this little fellow called Gremlin. I mean, how cute is that?! I framed him up this weekend and hung him in a place of honor along with some of my other collection.
This is a production cel (and original background too) from the Filmation animated classic The Adventures of Flash Gordon circa 1979. I actually remember seeing this animation when it first aired and I was quite young. It still holds up today and of course the art attracts me even more.
One can still buy production cels but they are going fast and they don’t make them anymore for animated cartoons, which are all done digitally now. I think that I’m probably the only artist that I know that does cel paintings and little Gremlin has taught me a lot.

Much thanks! Yes it was pretty hard for me to resist him to be honest and I was SO very pleased with the background being from the original production too: hand painted with an overlay acetate sheet with extra line work! I have learned much from that little dragon. He's a piece of history hanging in my house.
