so much thought has gone into this - I have such mixed emotions over the entire affair but I truly can understand his need to get away and so become his own person. This is a wonderful story Wire... keep going; you're on a journey.

I can understand some reader's discomfort with his home scene. I've only dealt with co-workers who were of an age where this kind of behavior was only just starting. To live with someone in that condition must be extremely challenging. While I didn't want to downplay or trivialize such a situation, having a 'comic-relief character' like Tuffnut come from such a home seemed like a good balance. One might even infer that the twin's behavior is directly influenced by their father's infirmity.
