this is funny and I agree for the more well known artists, us newbies keep our prices relatively reasonable and since our art isnt in super high demand we offer sales all the time to try and scrap by. I can personally say I put my all into every piece because I want to make a name for myself, and I can see improvement in every single piece.
Don't like someone's prices? Don't commission them. Pretty simple IMO. Don't quite see why people get so upset over this like they're entitled to someone's work at the price they deem reasonable.
Commission up and coming artists if you wanna save money. Or better yet, learn to do it yourselves lol. Also, just because someone charges more money than others doesn't make them snobby or entitled. What does make someone snobby and entitled is demanding that artists lower their prices for you.

If I like an artist's style, I save up money for them because I expect a good piece of work, right? Unfortunately, that's not the case.
About doing it myself... Come on. I like other people's styles, too. And if an artist simply don't care about your guidelines and simply say "it's a sketch, take it or GTFO" isn't acceptable, it's just... disappointing.

Yes, I agree with what you're saying. My comment was actually driven more towards your other comments on here, but I couldn't reply to them all haha. There's a lot of hate talking about artists charging too much. I say they should accept it and not commission them in that case. I agree with you that if you pay good money, you should get something you're satisfied with though.
Yeah, I totally understand. Some people's prices are out of other people's price range. I just don't like that some people think it's not fair or that they are entitled to art from their favorite artists at a price that is in their favor. My comments weren't really directed at you, just more toward the general feel of the comments left by others.
Yeah, poor service is definitely something that is really lame. I've only had to deal with it once or twice though thankfully. I've been disappointed with art before, but I've also been blown away by some others. Just gotta find those good artists and stick with them or take a risk and see what happens haha.
I've had an experience like this once or twice. *I won't name names obviously* I try to be tongue-n-cheek about things but when I break down to commission someone I idolize to get:
A) No alerts for a couple months then suddenly hear "okay here you go pay me now". -- Seriously, if not for the creative process then for the sake of budgeting! Communication is a common problem I've seen.
B) Obvious errors in color or lines (or lack there of) -- Had this in a cell shaded commission, part of table was still the wall color, and missing its edge line.
*Tangent* Right or wrong any time I see something within 0.05 seconds of loading the image, I internally table flip.
C) Delivery problems -- I can tolerate honesty, but this one decided to take three weeks to simply visit a mailbox. One attempt was my mailing address was printed wrong (artists fault) and that was forgiven.. but still.
D) Failed Lamination -- Probably uncommon, and from the same artist as my (D) commission.. It was a rectangular badge request. It was CLEARLY cut by hand scissors, rather then a blade or cutter/trimmer.
I'm tempted to just try re-printing from FA and laminate it myself.
My best commissions have been with artists I've met locally. And their not even big names they just do superb work for someone they befriend.
