Finally got to casting some soft foam blanks from my molds. I haven't made any from my dragon mold since I assume anyone wanting a dragon would rather have the hard version- If anyone wants to commission one I will however.
!♦!THESE ARE NOT RESIN!♦!
I won't use these for my own projects as I really just don't like foam against my face but I know a lot of people still dislike resin and prefer foam so I will offer these blanks as well.

It's a soft foam, like normal foam fursuit heads. I'd think it might easier to start out with at first than a resin head since you don't need a hinge but aside from that I'm not sure I think resin is easy to work with too.
Really its more of a personal preference I believe.

I'm afraid I'm going to add to the onslaught of questions, because I'm really interested in this. :P
- Would you say that the foam is more lightweight and/or breathable than resin?
- I'm assuming its easier than resin to cut, and to attach/glue things to?
- Would it be possible to cast the foam in different colours, for example, black?
- At the risk of being cheeky, if I sent you a (silicone?) mold and mother mold of my own creation, would you be willing to make a cast from it in foam, and send it all back to me? It would be purely for a one-off personal project, and naturally I'd pay for the service. This would be perfect for a project of mine, but I don't currently have the facilities to cast foam myself, and even if I did, I would prefer to fuel your business, rather than copy it.
Looking forward to your responses!

In my opinion nothing will EVER be more breathable than resin, especially not foam, but to each their own.
I personally think resin is very easy to cut- these you will have to carve out the inside with a knife like a pumpkin.
I could do other colors but I don't think it would have a specific use- if anyone wants me to I would though.
And I could very easily do this- but I would likely want to do more than one cast since it would be a hassle for you to ship it I'm sure ^-^

Fair enough! That's a good point about having to carve out the foam, I hadn't considered that. If you can find the time, I'm wondering if posting some tips on that might be a good idea, so your buyers don't end up ruining their bases by carving out too much, or too little.
The reason I asked about colours is because the character I have in mind has a furless face. :) I'm assuming that the foam can replicate little details as well as resin can? Do you reckon its safe to airbrush, varnish, sculpt over, etc?
Oh, and is it possible to hinge the jaw in the same method as with resin bases, or would a different technique be called for?
I'm so sorry for the interrogation, but this has got me all inspired. :P I'm considering this for my eventual Pickle head, you see. I plan on being very active and rambunctious in the suit, and it would be nice not to have to worry about exposed resin getting cracked or chipped, as well as the safety of my own face. XD The concept of having the softness of foam with the detail of resin is fascinating to me - very good idea. :D
At any rate, thanks so much for offering your services, I'll be in contact about that, at some point when I actually have time to work on my own stuff.
