The lever beside the seat is the gear selector. That and the transmission linkage is also home made. The original steering column was tilt wheel, and like on many old GM vehicles, it was falling apart. It was getting hard to steer, the wheel falling down, and the flex coupling of the old steering shaft was tearing out the turn signal / brake light wires when you steered it. And selecting the gears was next to impossible, and seldom stayed in park...I had a few "roll aways" because of it. It may not look like a new car now, but everything works great. The interior was removed because animals ride with me a lot.
