Just a snapped pic self-portrait and oldish photo workings in photoshop to give it a melancholy, soft coldwave feel to it.
This is my b/w vintage Epiphone Thunderbird bass. I've been a guitarist for years but never really saw a need to explore bass until I started getting into the 80's Wave genres...now its one of the first things I judge in a song ;)
Here it is in action if you'd care to see.

I've been a guitarist for years and years before I picked up a bass, so it seemed natural to use a pick...but I only use one because most 80's stuff is very persistant and rapid with their basslines and bass-usage. It creates a much different sound as well using one versus not one, and nearly all the groups I love, listen to, and are influenced by were/are pick-using bassists.
I did read that and wondered if that was why. I've been mucking about with my bass for a year or so, but have been fudging through with two or three fingers to keep up speed. Plus, most of the stuff I play is pretty simple, repetitive things like Devo, Christian Death and Sisters stuff. I'll have to give a pick a go - will probably make fast stuff loads easier to play!
I've found less is more when it comes to bass. It doesn't need to be crazy metal riffs...one or two notes done really fast, depending on the surrounding equipment/instruments used can be and sound just as amazing.

by far my favorite bass-fronted bands out there right now, who also use a Thunderbird.....and thats what, two notes for the whole song? and that bass rocks harder than anything I've ever heard.

This one shows it live as well, what a beast of a bass the Thunderbird is..and that song is mainly one note, pick-used...but to me is one of the most powerful basses I've heard
