I can't even draw a still life properly. Ugh, hideous. I had no photo reference, but still. Hideous. Maybe I should pile up some fruit on my desk and try painting that by candle light. Candles are cool.
I'm seriously considering saving up to go to an actual legitimate art school... maybe get some employment in the field of concept art or something, under a different name. Would be pretty cool to draw and paint pictures, and see them rendered in 3D in a video game or movie. Maybe book covers, or... something.
But then, I have a feeling my FA gallery might make it difficult to find employment. But then, I don't know that for sure. For all I know, there could be a lot of porn artists on here who have made it big as creative minds in other artistic fields. But they're so darn elusive and hard to discover.
I dunno... Maybe the industry is forgiving if you're professional and don't talk about it in the workplace.

I ordered some books on digital painting from Amazon. Ones that actually specialize in digital painting, and approach it in a serious, thoughtful manner. I'll let you guys know how the books are.

It would be a good idea to not plaster your identity all over FA if you want to get a career outside of furry porn. I draw porn for fun and make sure nobody is able to discover who I really am from it.
I'm going to be blatantly honest here: still life is boring, especially fruit. It does help with learning to render light, shadow, and colors better, but there are more effective ways of doing that. Just practice drawing the human form under different lighting conditions and that will teach you heaps more about form than drawing fruit ever would.
Also, be careful with art school. Make sure you do your research. Art school is good for networking with other artists, but a few books from Barnes & Noble with some determination can take you just as far. Look up Andrew Loomis and Burne Hogarth's books, and absolute goldmine of information from both of them.

I know a professional concept artist who drew naughty furry things between jobs to pay the bills. It's certainly a good idea to go to reasonable measures to prevent people from finding your FA page, but just the mere existence of one isn't gonna keep you from getting hired if you make the cut artistically.
I have separated my work - this is not my professional illustrative art. But still, people who do erotica can still be professionals...for instance, look at Keith Haring, or Clive Barker, HR Giger.
Art school seems to be hit-or-miss for some. Personally my work has improved megatons since I started, and I have learned a lot. You can learn this stuff outside of school, but what I find is that school makes you practice it, while motivation can be harder to come by on your own. I probably wouldn't have figured out how to train my observational eye if I hadn't been pushed so many times into it. I have seen some peers who don't put much effort in and thus, their work suffers, and they blame the school/teachers.
As for still lives, you need reference until you know the forms so well that you don't. And real reference is a million times better than a photo ref. Still lives are wonderful, they teach you space, perspective, form, lighting, I could go on and on. I've found that they can be quite meditative and relaxing to do. I would be willing to give you some tips on digital painting/observational drawing if you'd like. But the only way you'll really learn is practicing and practicing a ton over and over, so I do really recommend school.

Or you could try and draw your desk with fisheydistortion, drawing what you see when you'Re drawing with an infinite repeating image on the scree that shows the desk in a fisheyperspective with the monitor, that shows the desk in a fisheyperspective with the monitor, that shows the desk in a fisheyperspective with the monitor, that shows the desk in a fisheyperspective with the monitor, that shows the desk in a fisheyperspective with the monitor....

"I had no reference"
There's your problem.
Also, it's unlikely that employers will look too deeply into your internet history (Unless your name really is Lapin Beau), but even if they do, and they manage to trace your name back to your FA page, it's unlikely they will reject you because you drew cartoon porn, especially if you're as talented as you are. They want people who can do a high quality job and do it quickly, so as long as nothing you drew was illegal, they probably won't care, and art schools are even more lenient with that kind of thing. Trust me, with the stuff you've done, you can get into almost any school in the country (Though doing some actual still lives wouldn't hurt!)

You've kept to a pseudonym the entire time you've posted here, right Beau? As long as your real name isn't associated with what you do here you should be okay.
I don't think you'd have too much to worry about regarding being discovered as a furry by employers unless they themselves are furries and recognize your style from seeing it used in their favorite porn pics.
Or look at guys like Mike Kazaleh
here on FA. I think he's most famous for drawing the Ren & Stimpy comic back in the 90's for Marvel and his gallery here ain't exactly clean.
Some people can manage this type of thing with their real names. Others can't. Its a screwey world and I can't make heads or tails of it myself.
