Bottom of Scytodes sp. (Spitting Spider).

They're frail, but apparently very resilient to the winter cold snaps as I haven't seen a reduction in their numbers this Winter. They hide out in the cracks of the house when it's really cold, but come out when it warms up.

Yikes, look at that [thorax?]! A little frightening, way to go on such a difficult positioned shot!

Spiders have two body segments. The Cephalothorax in the front, and the Abdomen in the rear.

The main challenge with these guys is proper focus, as they are nocturnal and shy away and hide when exposed to bright light too long.

For the bug program that we do at schools, we came up with a variation of the song "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" to teach the kids about bug parts. The spider verse is "Cephalothorax, Abdomen." the kids love it and it helps them to remember.

They really don't use much of a web. They lay strands here and there, but it's mostly to aid in detection and help them move around easier on walls. They don't actually capture prey in them.

The fuzzy spiders are mostly dormant for the season or diurnal. So, it's been tough to find them this time of year.

The body was about 1.5 to 2 cm long or so.
