The Pioneer Building.
This is another picture taken from the top of the parking structure, that from which I took yesterday's photograph. Closest to you is the same Lowman Building, (1907,) the fancy one furthest from you is the Pioneer Building, (1892.) I'll post more photographs of that place later. The wilderness in the background is the Northwest point of Beacon Hill, no more than two or three miles from Pioneer Square and Downtown proper. It may seem strange to have undeveloped land so close to the urban center, but the fact of matter is we've got a lot of hills here that are way to steep to build on, so we don't. Even if we did, we're on glacial till here, hills of which tend to fall apart if you remove their trees.
One thing I love about Richardsonian Romanesque is how interesting the fenestration is, the effect is heightened when you photograph from an angle like this.

We got seven hills, I think. Except we didn't like one of them so we flattened it in 1893 and used the dirt to fill in a bay. And then we moved a river and raised the whole of the downtown area by 35 feet. You know, to help with drainage. The hills are: Beacon Hill, First Hill, Capitol Hill, (that's the gay area,) Queen Anne Hill, Phinney Ridge, Denny Hill's the one we got rid of, and Magnolia Hill. There's also Crown Hill up North. That's the ghetto. Well, not really.
You'd think Queen Anne Hill would be the gay area, but we're pretty straight-laced up here.

You definitely have an eye for geometry and foreshortening. Personally, I like both classical and contemporary styles, but classical seem to be much more inspired and blend form and function more artfully. So many modern buildings are flat, sterile and boring. I like your framing and arches. They're neat. :)
