Comish - Early to Rise

Full background and gradient-shaded comish for
MouseClick of his dragon rising over the ocean near his homestead!
Pose/composition was pre-approved by MouseClick before beginning this piece. I decided to go with a cloudy morning sort of scene, one, because I feel like they accent Mouse's colours really well, and also I was treated to a great late evening with a sky similar to this, and knew I wanted to integrate it into my art sometime soon.
Also, if the island looks like a photo...that's because it is! I wanted to really integrate the photo Mouse provided for me of his homestead, so I superimposed the island as a texture over a rough-shaded...island-shaped blob, played with some effects and added some simple highlighting to match the dragon and...voila! I want to use this some more, using the pictures I took from Outremer, inshallah.

A four set wing dragon the two smaller on the tail, I think impressive, the background method as a photo looks nice as the sunrise behind its silhouette like forms looks like a short sunrise sunset like scene you might see in north parts like Alaska. It is a nice blend od drawing an photography, well done.
I guess, but at those locations, sunrise and set are almost interchangeable, as the places can be at wither, perpetual darkness, and in summer, a land of the midnight sun. My guess you live in the north like that anyway, so you have more insight on the background, than I do.

I've actually been trying to do a tutorial like that for some time now, but I've just been bogged down with commissions. :0. That'd actually be pretty sweet if you wanted to commission one - I could treat it like a sponsored piece, and you could kind of aggregate what you'd like to see most on the tut depending on how much you'd be willing to pay for it.
