Well, It's official a couple of days ago (in my point) MLP:FIM ended its 3rd season with only 13 episodes. Quite a shock if I may say, for everything invloved here. Personally, the way I saw the last episode was like seeing the the end of My Little Pony for good.
Which begs the question, What's next for Season 4?
All I, and most bronies, know is that Season 3 is over. Time to hit the hay and wait for the next...

They are talking about ending the Green lantern series that's currently airing on CartoonNetwork and replacing it with a new Teen titans...
My only question is...why? Green Lantern is way better than the teen titans go comic (which is what they will be basing the tv show off of).

I'd say it's more of how they didn't expect this entire thing to be this popular, so that's why they bought the 4th season. Though I do hope that part 2 and 3 will help people calm down. I mean, I get it why some are angry (those being who actually gave good reasons for dislike the ep, and Twilight becoming an Alicorn), but I do think some are going way to far with all this visceral hate. Or maybe I'm just over analyzing the entire thing due to lack of sleep >>
It only went for 13 episodes because of the 65-episode rule: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.p.....EpisodeCartoon
Scotty, you're looking at it the wrong way. This rule is set up by the bean counters. A 64 ep cartoon series is too short to be sold for syndication, so all the money put into making it is 'wasted' and the cartoon is considered 'failed.' More than 65 eps is considered a 'waste' since the extra money the 'bonus' eps would bring to the package are less than it cost to make the eps, reducing the 'return on investment' on the set.
Accountants don't look at anything beyond the dollar value it possesses. Remember, accountants were the ones who said 'Don't fix the Pinto, it'll be cheaper to pay all the wrongful death suits than to recall and repair all the cars.'

That wouldn't work, since it would be TWO syndication packages for the same 'series,' and unless they are offering both as a bundle with a discount over the cost of two separate syndication sets, stations wouldn't be interested, and if they did offer the discount, they'd make less money than if they made two different series and sold them separately.
The 'smart money' for continuing a cartoon series, the way the accountants see it, is with a spin-off. That way they get two different shows that can be sold to different networks for "mo' money, mo' money, mo' money."
Unfortunately, spin-offs are generally poorly made and therefore they suck.

Hence the cannibalistic travesty of Equestria Girls.

Seems like something that should have been in a movie that hasbro didn't feel like forking out for. I don't know, it saw it and it had potential to be good but it's like something that was meant for an hour and a half got squeezed into 20 minutes. It was a bit painful and should have been at least a two parter. I really do think it could have been alright despite the silly beginning of switched all the cutie marks with a spell she unknowingly cast for reasons. Oh wells.

You do bring a god point, though I think a long movie would have worked better. Also, maybe it's just me, but I think that in the 3rd season Twi felt a lil' underdeveloped and could have used more work, though problem of that being that this season was short as hell, and at times felt really rushed.
Ug.. most of the third season felt like they fired their writers and brought on people that know nothing about the first two seasons. That's an exaggeration, but I feel the word contrived could easily be tossed about for several of the episodes. Here's hoping with the end of season three that they go more story driven.

ok sooooooo what about the plot holes of these stories i mean there been alot questions some ponies here like The Cutie Mark Crusaders and very other Charaters of the story what about seem like every anime or show when they add someone new they never finish them
sooo what the hay ????

Well, considering that most bronies looked at the season 3 finale as a stand alone, like they did the previous finales, I can see why they're not exactly happy. It took me a couple of watches to realize what I was seeing. It's not just the season 3 finale, it's the culmination of everything from the two previous seasons as well. Twilight's journey has a new chapter, and I'm eager to see where they go from here.
they never planned to have a full season for 3, and probably had all the episodes planned out before they aired them, so they had decided this was going to happen before they decided to do season 4. but this makes me sad that my head cannon didnt come true in this last episode, that it was too short, and that there was no new villain in the finale.
season 4, im going to cry if you dont deliver.

One thing I don't think a lot of people are taking into consideration is just how much the Pegasisters and Bronies affect this show. There have been many times through the episodes where we have seen clear indications that the writers of this show are indeed watching the fan-base and their reactions/ideas.
One thing to keep in mind is that even with all the wailing and the threats to stop watching the show forever because of Twilight the Alicorn Princess, they still released the episode. It also seems very vague and not much to it. This can only make me think that they have A LOT of new ideas which they didn't want to spoil at the end of such a short season.
With Season 4 being confirmed with a full line up of about 26 episodes, we can be probably guaranteed to see new story arcs and introduction of new characters which may make it to be regular ponies through out. There are still so many opportunities for new things, even with Twilight being a princess.
I know I am looking forward to Season 4 with an open mind because the writers and producers have been this open and listening to its fan-base all this time, why would they stop now when they have such a wonderful thing going? Keep your minds open and your hooves about you everyone, because I think Season 4 will be a wonderful thing.
And if it's not, well, every show loses its spark at some point, and we have had 3 great seasons out of this, which is more than most expected.

Gonna throw a quick two cents in.
It was an okay episode, not the best but far from the worst either. It's probably easier for me to accept changes like this, since I'm not really a bronie, I'm just a little less attached to the show. Biggest problem with the episode was that it was rushed, they had the most songs per single episode, but didn't allow themselves to go into any sort of detail on the plot. That's not a deal breaker, just means they'll have to come back later to fill in a few gaps. The ending didn't bother me, mostly because it actually did make quite a bit of thematic sense. You could tell for awhile that they were building up to something with Twilight, and seeing as her name means, "time between day and night," she does kinda complete the theme they started with Celestia and Luna.
So, there was room for improvement. It does seem odd to make a major change to one of the primary characters with so little dialogue to add context. The music was for the most part pretty good though, and there were some fairly good scenes, so it was overall okay.

I have a feeling the timeline is going to be pushed up by several years, at least within a few episodes. We may see three ponies we've never known before, perhaps the children of the main six but I doubt that. I suspect we will see grown up versions of the Cutie Mark Crusaders plus another three to make a new Mane Six. We could also see PoundCake and CarrotCake (I hope I have their names right) as the new young characters out to find their cutie marks. The others can still reoccur, but there would be changes in their lives. Rainbow Dash is part of the Wonderbolts with another female Pegasus as a very close friend (their way of having shades of lesbianism without spelling it out). Fluttershy has her own Vet clinic. Rarity now lives in Canterlot as a famous designer. Pinke Pie is now a mother. Applejack is still the reliable girl she's always been, or is starting a family of her own. (I would be impressed if they actually had Applejack as a pregnant mare, but Ha$br0 probably wouldn't allow it.)
Just my theories, I'll have to see how many actually happen.
Just my theories, I'll have to see how many actually happen.
So... now she's a Princess... does this mean she'll get to fight enemies to the state now, like Katrina and her slave labor, the Zebras who raise the price of coal by the tens of bits, or Saddle Aradia who promises holy war due to Celestia trolling their religion and moving their Sun away from Mecca when it comes to noon-time prayer?
What can say? You do something like this and you have to raise the stakes!

Hasbro still has a hour long "Movie" left this year. Once of the writers tweeted implying it will deal more with Twilight's princesshood but bronies will have to wait a little while yet. Considering they already finished the cover of the "Princess Twilight Sparkle" DVD it probably will be on the DVD and shown on the HUB once the DVD is released.
I think that making this episode, 2 episode and making it the show's finale would have been pretty nice, but I don't think I will enjoy season 4 a lot. In fact, I only watch it nowadays since there isn't a lot to watch...
Btw, for everyone who thought Alicorn Twilight was unexpected... come on, I have seen the Alicorn toys since November...

Hit the hay and wait for the next??
This is prime time for all dem creative folks to fill the empty void with CUSTOM PONY WORK. whas'wrong'wi'chu??
XD
I am quite curious to see where they go in the next season though. I honestly don't see it ending anytime soon though. Logically, that is. I mean, what company is gonna take its BEST cash cow, lead it out to pasture, and shoot it in the head as it munches, blissfully ignorant, on grass?
Doubtful.

I cannot wait to see what's going to be happening on Season 4. But it's gonna be way different specially sines now Twilight is a Princess her self. How is she gonna handle that? how are her friends gonna get used to that? Everyone there would hail her as their queen like they did to Luna, Celestia and Cadence. But we'll see after a long waiting. Hopefully something interesting we can wait like the Crystal Empire. What about the Changelings? Are they coming back or just famish forever? Who knows what hasbro and Hub has to offer for us.
Basically, they made the Series finale, then got funding for a fourth season.
All this "it's a 3 parter!" is CYA because they clued in they screwed up badly. As if we should view the Canterlot Wedding and Crystal Empire as one giant 4 parter.
It was just SO BADLY DONE. Half of Season 3 felt like it was phoned in, and we were sold that 13 episodes meant they'd all be good. Two episodes, jammed together, one missing it's middle the other a clip show. And so many cringeworthy songs.

Well I'm not a brony or what ever but I did see the finale, very nice did not see that coming. Although I will miss young justice was hoping they'd do a crossover episode useing characters from the other series like Static shock, Teen Titans, Batman Beyond that be wicked.
On deviantart I did read a story a year ago about how Twilight messes up a teleport spell and sends them to an alternate Equestria where genders are reversed. Was hilarious you should check it out if you want. Stronium-Chloride is the writer.

I didn't like that the finale was rushed (even while knowing that it'll be a three-part deal, it still felt like I was watching someone's attempt at condensing the story in an "...in 5 Seconds" style rather than an actual episode). Despite that, I think Twi's ascension does present new story opportunities I'd like to see explored in the upcoming Season 4. Still, like the metafictional takes on this.
And if nothing else, the IDW comic is pretty good so far, so there's that.
