I decided recently to rework my aiming technique in archery, seeing that my neck's unnatural curve was unknowingly throwing off my sighting. I was practicing my grouping and, for the first time ever, telescoped my arrow! Also known as shooting a Robin Hood.
I often get close couplings that will shave a shaft or two, but this was a first.
I do NOT use a compound bow, I use a 30lb recurve.
Scrapping soon.

In the 5-6 years I've been shooting, it's my first. I recently got much more devoted when my sister asked for some help/guidance. It's just weird to think that all these years my sighting has been off- probably why my grouping isn't as tight as I'd like.
I love that you went with a recurve and not a compound. Let me know if you ever want to go shooting! I'd be more than happy to help and Bear Creek Archery knows me well.

I've been told I'm a pretty good and patient teacher/helper, so I'd love to try sometime, if you'd like. The best range I've found is Bear Creek Archery, off of Hampton and Knox.
I've shot on and off for years, more so recently at my sister's request. Though since last week when I found my sighting has been off, I've had to start restructuring my stance and aiming. I'm reteaching my muscles and it's a pain!

I'd be happy to accept, you have a lot more experience than me and I'm ready to start off on the right foot! A range is opening up near me in a couple months, I'm shooting at a family owned pasture in the meantime. I already made a major noob mistake and sliced open my index finger on my left hand with the fletching of an arrow as I shot. XD Lesson one; Put yer damn finger DOWN.
What general area are you in (you can email if you'd rather it not be public)? I can try looking around for some more ranges that would be convenient.
That was one mistake I'm glad I happened to avoid. I'm so sorry you had to experience that.
Finger down and elbow bent out not down. I've had the arm-too-straight mistake many times and snapped the string against my wrist or forearm, underneath the arm guard.

Is a very nice shot.
Often takes something special to get folks back into archery and getting it right - I don't know, the body is just stupid and needs time to figure what's needed from it. I was just fooling around for years and years; shooting at range didn't do anything for me. Field shooting on The McDonald Douglas Clubs' area was nice but I was only able to go there once.
Preferred a recurve bow but for serious work I would use my Bear Polar II at 60lbs.

Thank you!
It definitely takes dedication and practice if you want anything to happen. There are many pieces that have to be perfected to get consistent shooting, and see any improvement. Usually, the way your stance is set up or the way you aim is what may be keeping you from improving. I wasn't seeing any improvement for a long while, but I realized my stance was poor and I had no technique in aiming.
Sixty pounds is a beast to handle, all the props to you.
