Marc the shiny Totodile - Pokémon Mystery Dungeon ID
A ref for myself I made some time ago for
ChaosElsie's Pokémon Mystery Dungeon story series "Guardian Storm" which tells about different rescue and exploration teams. I tried my best to come up with things that match with my actual Totodile self from Earth Beta.
In that case I came up with such slightly changes:
-He has no music player or headphones since the Pokémon in the PMD universe don't have that technology but he actually loves music and collects items that he can use to create music with.
-His "Cheery Scarf" remains and actually has a game function keeping him from falling into the asleep status by another Pokémon.
-He is part of a rescue team and wants to help to bring harmony between big and small Pokémon.
-He still doesn't want to evolve, instead he wants to become strong enough to easilly compete with the fully evolved Pokémon who decided to terrorize the smaller Pokémon.
Except for that info his funloving and energetic personality remains.
Hope you all like it! Have a fun day, dudes! (-^.=.^-)

This looks... Hmmm... Adorablecuteyriffic. Yeah, I'm going with that. X3
Aaah, the Mystery Dungeon series. I think I'm gonna play them again soon, see what Pokémon I'll turn into this time. ^.-.^
I don't know how, but I always get this "renewed" Poké-game playing excitement whenever you upload something related to it. X3
Guess your 'Dily personality is helpful even beyond the borders of the game, hehe. ^.-.^
Other than that, great ref. Very nicely detailed, and I really like the unique dream you've got. If I could enter that world, I'd support it all the way. ;3

Thankies, bro! Well, I wanted to get it unique to a "what if"-situation. I mean in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon they always tell you that it is a world with just Pokémon and humans are kind of like legends and all Pokémon live in those communities.Live in lil houses and their own powers are like the only recources they use and are happy with so I wanted to make my dily self fit in more. =3
Actually, I guess that dream would somewhat fir to my actual dily self in some way. I already thought of him maybe getting his own lil shop for music and party supplies, things that are there to make other people happy and help them to celebrate precious days. (-^.=.^-)

Oh, no worries! It's easy as long you take some time to feel into your character and search for points that would fit well into the Mystery Dungeon World. I actually used some wikis and a guide book to think of which attack moves would fit well or how I could come up with my idea for a personal item. =3
The most important is to have fun with writing down all the trivia! I find it very cool! (-^.=.^-)

Love it! n_n Must have put alot of hard work in to add so much detail to your pic! And yeah, you've got a good knack at lifting peoples spirits and instilling good moodiness in their hearts. I'd be happy to dance with you, though admittedly, I may have to lift you off the ground to dance, due to the size difference. : )
Hehehe, I find it fun when my dudes lift me up! I am also quite the jumpy one so I can hop up and down or bounce around them. X3
Oh, if it's about the art it's mostly that I love to try things out. Sometimes I make a lil mindmap on a sheet of paper, visit some sites to get inspired, try out tutorials and such. It's always fun and you get good ideas if you simply mix some things together. =3

I give you several reasons:
1. much less Pokémon to play with! (Pikachu(Gaaah! VIP bonus!), Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott and Axew)
2. reduction of the in game included Pokémon! (around 150)
3. a shorter story! (Serebii stated it already when they tested the Japanese version)
4. it makes you pay more to get 100% out of it! (some of the dungeons just unlock when you pay the DLC for them)
I find that's all quite terrible! I understand that 3D models might look fancy to several people but if they wanna do so they shall at least create them for all their Pokémon so that they can actually work with those on game projects! I find it's extremely disappointing that they cut out so much of the main PMD experience by getting rid of all the starters, the personality test and also made the game shorter. I personally blame "The Pokémon Company" as that they mostly try to push more money out of Pokémon while saving time instead of using the full potential and actually giving the developers the chance to make a game actually 100% finished and better than the prdecessor. The only newer aspects for tzhis game are as follows:
You can scan round objects with your camera to create the magnagate to a new dungeon which is quite gimmicky to me as that you didn't need to do such a thing in the former games. You simply left the town and went to the place on the map. Why adding such a minigame to stretch time before actually playing the game? The 3D graphics that we all know from the 3DS. I think it's alright but you also could have done the effects with the 16-bit look we knew from the former games already. And last is that you can somewhat arange your town a bit by using the stuff you get from your missions to build new buildings. In that manner it's a bit like the PS2 RPG Dark Cloud or its successor Dark Chronicle but it's not really an innovation.
In that way I can't say else as that I'll probably will play it just for the heck of that it's still Chunsoft who made the story which usually is good but it's sad what they have done with the game that could have been as great as the 2nd one. *sighs* When will they finally make a good Pokémon game again that isn't just a quick-cash-in title? (ó.=.ò')

*sighs* PMD was special to me because you had that "You are part of the game feel" but they changed it so much that it lost what I enjoyed about the first two games. I dislike whoever took all the good things out just to replace them with odd features and polygon graphics. (ó.///.ò)
Why are polygons so superior over sprites? What makes you think so? The sprites in the last game were done great! They gave the game that Super Nintendo RPG atmosphere. Some of the games from that time are still considered much better than several of the stupid highend graphics games that show up nowadays even. If they wanted to make it modern they still could have used cellshading grafics to get the anime look or going the way other modern 2D styled games like "Scott Pilgrim VS. The World:The Video Game", "Fez", etc. have done it. Heck, even "Cryamore" which isn't out yet does it and looks artistically great. Like said, 3D doesn't afford those polygons to look good. and polygons don't add to it.
It simply is full of rushed decisions that now resulted in a mediocore game experience. I really hate the fact that the higher ups always take advantages of that they are the sponsors in such a terrible way. It's the same case as with like games getting delayed for months even that they are finished already. (>.=.<)
The fourth...I doubt they will better themselves because the fact stays that even if I don't buy it the fanbase is still so blind that this game will be an easy cash in for them still. They can sell everything just by putting the brand Pokémon on it. If a side series reaches the point when it has no great sales anymore they simply ditch it. Or why do you think they never created a second Pokémon Dash or Hey You, Pikachu?
Right, they saw that those games as quick cash-ins but the games actually failed because they are quite known for how bad they turned out. The same goes for Pokémon puzzle games. Those were no big success so there are no newer ones and that actually can happen to other games, too. People might ask for a new Pokémon Stadium-like game but just get a Battle revolution and that can result into that we won't ever get a proper or no suchkind of game ever again.
You see that the sponsors don't see any reason in that games like a big RPG game for the Wii U and 3DS are necessary except that the cash-in products don't bring the millions they are looking for. So why a new Pokémon Collosseum/XD that has a big story mode added? Why not letting someone make somerthing as big as the usual Pokémon versions with said franchise? Because money is what counts most, not that the franchise can actually stay up to its standards when they are there.
Time for developement and more heart into a project are simply gone. They don't live up to their potential and that's what makes me sad. Really, it's like if new Pokémon get added just to make younger people think Pokémon would be still new. They don't use the older Pokémon because the former generation of players is meaning less and less. That's what seems to be the hard truth about the franchise nowadays...(ó.=.ò)

thank you for saying that I mean they could have gotten a lot more done on the game with 2d sprites, I mean I would like for game makers to make good games not games that focus on new tech I mean that's why most series starters are better then the games later in the series the team starts out with a passion for what they are doing then the fire that burned so brightly in them so slowly burns out and they only care about the money not the gamer... its sad really I mean only a few people really care enough to try and save the game series and most of the games that are still good and alive are games like Zelda and Mario games which I grew up around games that still have heart in them... when they die i'll give up hope on gaming...
(btw /1. much less Pokémon to play with! (Pikachu(Gaaah! VIP bonus!), Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott and Axew)/ that made my day)

Hehe, well. I just finished playing the demo aka the start of the game. It really remembers a bit of the first game's start(Red/Blue Rescueteam). The graphics remind kinda of how they looked like in The Poképark games, colorful and likable but like I said to other people before is that the game is alright but can be measured on the same level as the "Explorers of Time/Darkness/the Sky" games of the series in my eyes. I somewhat miss some things still. It is kinda odd to me that the hunger aspect disappeared and I need to try out yet if you actually can stay longer in a dungeon to earn experience. About the aspect of DLC I kinda feel like being toyed with because there are actually songs from older games that seem to unlock along with maps you buy as DLC and that's kinda harsh if you think of that there is always that wish that this one would be more like its predecessors. (^.=.^')
I currently play "Fire Emblem Awakening" but it's pretty hard for me because I wanna level my teammates...or better to say I always face opponents that could easily finish off several of my members. I got for example a younger dude called Donnel who is level 3 but only deals like 2 points of damage to others. It's taking like forever to get a chance to level him since I have no weak enough opponents...But I guess I am also not very good with tactic RPGs myself. (^.=.^')
I draw pretty slowly and take quite a lot of time for the upgrades I do on the computer after I sketched and scanned a pic. I'm sure with some training you can do it as well. You just need to experiment around and you should feel like doing it. It's always also a question of if you want to spend that long on something. =3

Oh, there is a way to share the exp between the others? =o
I mostly team up teammates so that there is the chance that the second character can attack, too. My current problem mostly is that the enemy is mostly positioned in pairs and when I can't beat one person directly they always do like three to four attacks against one of my people and I have to reset the whole match again. It gets quickly frustrating sometimes. I don't think I'd even like to play any harder modes than the classic mode. (^.=.^')
No, I haven't. I'm not a big fan of shooters myself even that I enjoyed watching some as Let's Plays. I watched "Bioshock Infinite" lately which has a pretty cool story and looks good.
Oh, you also know Soba, that's very nice! (-^.=.^-)

if the second unit strikes then they get exp too so freddy pairs perfect at start and donel will end up as your best unit over taking freddy trust me ^^ oh and focas on enemy ranges seen with the y button if your units haven't been seen then enemies wont move i wish i could be there to show you what i mean... oh and don't play classic lunatic ever... bad idea number one

Usually, you are all cheery and kinda childish. Seeing you quite serious and angry is quite a shock.
On the topic itself, I should go to the defence of polygons and limited Pokémon. While I agree that sprites make a great presentation, there is the thing where each system has to look 'newer' than the previous ones. Making polygon sprites are 'newer' than pixel sprites and therefore make the series more updated. Then again, Nintendoo is essentially giving up on 2D, which, in light of your observations, is a more compelling reason.
The 'no new Pokémon Dash' thing makes sense, since, at the time the game was made, the trend was to have fun with the new opportunities that the Nintendoo DS brought. I mean, there was a touchscreen, a microphone, two screens, and more! From what I saw, Pokémon Dash was just a game with which developers 'had fun.' I also thought that Pokémon Channel was a sequel to Hey, You! Pikachu! Even so, I have to agree on the lack of drive towards games. I just hope that there would be a 'Jack Kirby' of video games, the actual Jack Kirby breaking out of formulas of superhero comics that denied what made superhero comics great in the 1st place. Then again, reading history had me optimistic in there being at least one 'Jack Kirby' of video games.
Relatedly, there is the fact that more Pokémon are being made every 3 years. The last time I checked, the count was at around 700. All those Pokémon would complicate everything, which would make sense in reducing the numbers in spin-offs, one example being Pokémon x Nobunaga's Ambition. Even the number of starters is starting to get unwieldy, hence why there needed to be some omissions. I wonder if the weight of all the Pokémon would implode the series... though Digimon, which has about 400 more elements yet started off at very much the same time, is still going strong...

Tehehe, I must admit that I can't get warm for the newest installment of the series. I got it for free from Nintendo but the ways they slashed out so many good aspects from the franchise hurts deep still. I will try to continue on it soon and I'm glad about your words, dude. (-^.=.^-)
Oh, my! I apologize for taking half a year to respond, haha. (^.=.^')
I am happy you enjoy this fun little ref of a possible alternation to me lil Dile in a Mystery Dungeon universe. I still need to get warm with the third installment on the 3DS. You're absolutely right that at least in a Let's play shape the first two games are a nice experience to enjoy and if you might like the gameplay yourself also playing them. They have a nice SNES RPG flair and really touching story lines with fun and sympathetic characters. =D

Oh, in the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon world they are like special snacks which help each Pokémon to learn certain skills quicker. They are basically looking just like jelly beans and exist in various colors. Some colors are prefered by certain Pokémon types.
And additionally they can be used at Spinda's café in town to make special smoothies that give Pokémon and additional boost.

Yeah, the PMD games are to the most part really fantastic games ("Explorers of the Sky" for DS is the best in the series, period!) and partly the reason why I have such a strong affinity for Totodile in general. WIthout the experience from those games I'd probably not be here today. ^_^
