
Here's my main weapon. And yes, the glow sticks are changed out as they lose their illumination as they are part of the weapon's "power" system. I tried to combine some future and tribal things with this one. So I added the leather to all the grips and the feather charm to the handle.

or just a 'light pipe' with LEDs at each end, could set them to change colors to suggest things are changing.
I don't know how much free space you have in the gun to play with, but they have those button batteries watches and those 'tea lights' (in fact, you also get a 'flickering' yellow LED with the tea light you could use to highlight some part that looks 'damaged' ...

you can get the chip for 4-6 bucks (or the whole thing at rat shack for $35, program it and pull the chip if you need the space)

Might be interesting to see if you can mill out small 'runs' in the plastic, where the ribs are, and replace with clear / tinted plastic, then place the equivalent of one of those 'flameless' candles behind it, to hint at hidden power stores, as well.
