The airplane is a Piper PA-31-350 Navajo Chieftan used by Lockheed Martin to take high-altitude photos. The -350 is a stretched version of the Navajo with more powerful 350-hp (261-kW) engines that rotate in opposite directions (a Lycoming TIO-540 and a Lycoming LTIO-540) to eliminate critical engine issues.
