This is a piece of (now 1" inch thick) bullet-proof Polycarbonate Lexan, now epoxied together.
Its the first stage of a special part for a fursuit.

- *Taking guesses to what it is for ! !

for me i would use it to protect a lcd screen put into the chest of a robotic fursuit

I assume you used polycarbonate because it's clear, otherwise there are much stronger/cheaper alternatives..... Still have no idea what this would be used on for a fursuit however.

Probally not stronger to be this clear, but cheaper yes. I have tried to break a piece of this with a 10 LB sledghammer on concrete and could not break it, only dent it.

Garolite is a really good cheaper alternative when being translucent is not needed.

so do i, mostly refering to hand pistol rounds. I have a 300 Win Magnum Browning A-Bolt Medallion Rifle and 220 grain Nosler solids that would penetrate twice this thickness.

some form of glasses, perhaps? i honestly have no clue what you'd need 1" of bulletproof material on a fursuit for :P

Looks like a piece of some Sci-Fi accessoire...like a HUD interface or so. :P

i cant think of a practical use for it....it's big, it's flat, it's strong and it looks like it's made for optical use (else you wouldn't use clear glue). Maybe it's something for the eyes of the Suithead?

i would have to say for claws, its clear and strong good for LED operations maybe for eyes as well? though i dont think lexan mills well

It mills ok using 2-Flute Endmills for Aluminum alloys, at higher cutting speeds, but using 4-flute mills its messy. :P

i give water a try first. Not sure if whats in other cutting and cooling fluids for metal will harm the plastic

I have a lot of c clamps and pipe clamps that a\was forced on me when I got a tool chest at a garage sale That is I had to buy it all

I have a machine & welding/fabrication shop thus i have tons of those C-clams *lol ( if you look closely you can see that all of them have welding spatter burns and scars. :P

I am surprised there are no blocks of wood at the ends of the clamps to protect the lexan from scratches or dents and to even out the pressure. So... that must mean you don't plan on using it as a screen for something.... hmmmm.... What could it be!

Also if I ever strike it rich I'm totally getting you to make me a bullet prof suit JUST BECAUSE! Also well hell if it's that resistant I could then run around in full suit at a con and not worry about it being damaged :P

I really do want a stunt quality 'armour' suit one of these days.

hmmmmm there is so many possibilities, are you planning to etch some crazy design into it like fractal patterns or ice? I would imagine this stuff doesnt scratch to terrible easy so it would stay clear so it would make great ice.
