This beautiful spot was just a fifteen minute bike ride away from my dorm in Kumamoto. ^..^
I must say, I do like this shot. Since this was in December all the grass was yellow/brown. In the spring time when it's all green the trees wouldn't pop out as much.
The park was created in the early 1600s by lord Hosokawa Tadatoshi. One of the most iconic scenes is the Mt. Fuji-esque hill. The pond is fed with water from an underground spring. Other sights in the park include the Izumi Shrine, a Noh theatre, and Yabusame competitions are held annually.
