Just to clarify, this was supposed to be a scene from Matt's Lion King Interactive. The fat lioness here is Nala who bears a cursed ankh mark on her tummy. The ankh causes Nala to gain weight every night, but allows her to channel the energy stored in her excess flesh into nature and fertility related powers. Here she's supposedly fending off the hyenas with growing vines, but you can't really tell.

Next to her is a younger lioness by the name of Mirembe. She belongs to the pride Nala found after being washed away by a flash flood. Her pride coexists with a human tribe and they share similar beliefs, a form of tribal animism mixed with hindu-like traditions (it's not specially African, but hey, its fiction).

Somehow or other, the two stumbled upon or were found by a hungry bunch of hyenas. It's a bad time for Nala because right now she's so heavy she can barely walk while dragging her belly. She's going to have to expend a LOT of that 'life energy' in order to get going or get fighting.
