COMPETITION RALLY (over)

SO HERE IS MY COMPETITION RALLY:
I'm not just holding a fund raiser without a twist - it's also a competition! I'm going to need a whole lot of people to donate for this to be successful. The more you donate the better, but even a dollar in paypal is enough to enter this contest. The prizes will be delivered in an ascending order after the hardware upgrade.
1st place: The person who donates the most money will get an elaborate masterpiece made by me absolutely the way he/she/it wants. As big as you want and as much of anything in a picture you want. No restrictions whatsoever. Anything you want. The grand prize.
2nd-10th: The other nine donors will get consolation prizes - drawings featuring 1-2 of their favorite characters doing what they want. Not bad for a consolation prize.
In addition to this, everybody who didn't reach the top 10 will still get their name - and the head of their character if they want - included in a big thank you picture for donating!
My paypal address is - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - and the rules are pretty simple: Just donate a sum of your choice with the message "fund raise from [username]" and you will be added to the competition. If you give multiple donations they will all be added to your total.
I'll update this journal every day until the end of February so you can see what the top 10 positions are worth. You can add more to your donation total at any time if you want to be sure it gets to a higher position. You can also play it safe and make a huge donation for a sure prize!
I have my hopes up for a lot of competitors - so good luck donating, let's hope it's enough!

FA+

I am a IT support though, what operating system is loaded onto your computer?
I would have expected a bit more, especially with such a nice Prize
offered. Hmm, well, maybe people are just a bit slow..and
that there was a Con just recently won't help, I guess.
Oh well, sent ya a lil Something. Additionally, here a bit of advice,
in case you want some hints as to what to get now.
If not, just don't read further, if yes, well, do the obvious. ^^
First off, I despise complete Systems, you always get a cheap
piece of crap in those, be it the Graphics-Card, the Motherboard
or the actual Processor. I always put my systems together myself.
Now, at the moment is actually a bad time to buy, lotsa new
stuff only recently got thrown on the market but not long enough
for the older stuff to drop noticeable yet. So, what I would advise is
to take something that will hold you over for 1-3 years, depending
on what you want from it.
Here is what I think should be adequate:
Operating System: If at all possible, stay with XP for now. Yes, Vista is nice
and is getting better each month with patches etc but right now,
it is still a hog on resources and not essential to have.
Processor: a Dual Core should suffice for most anything you want to do.
What you should be careful of, though, is to make sure to get at least
3 GHZ a core. Anything else will just drag your performance down with newer software.
Mainboard: Not much to say, actually, just get a brand name that fits with
your processor of choice. As long as it isn't a no-name, most Motherboards
are decent nowadays with just a few exceptions. Best bet is to see if there is a
decent Bundle around and look for customer reviews on it to see if
the Board holds up.
RAM: 2 GB will do in a pinch but 4 is the way to go if you want to do
stuff that takes a lotta memory, like big Art-Progs. (If you want Vista..double
that amount..as I said, Vista = Hog)
Graphics Card: Get something in the middle range. You don't need High-End,
especially since new, better ones are just around the corner. My personal
pick (have it in my System atm) would be the NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT.
That will give you more than enough Power and Performance for all your needs,
including games, if you are a gamer. (Played Batman: Arkham Asylum on a decent Resolution and had no troubles.)
Sound Card: ..ehh, actually, you can skimp on that one, most on-board are
relatively decent. Unless you use your PC as your
Media-Center of choice, go with something small and cheap.
Soundblaster is always a good choice and they have a wide variety from cheap
to not-so-cheap.
Hmm, that's about it what you really need. Most PC-Probs are in those components. You should be able to re-use the Powerpack, drives etc and
the shell itself, if possible. All in all, I would say you'd be at roughly 500 Dollars
for the stuff I mentioned.
Hope this helps.
Might still be a good idea to upgrade yer comp and all but if you can fix it you'll have something to use while you save up cash x-x
I'm broke and so is my comp otherwise I'd enter. Trying to draw makes it overheat T_T
I know it bugs a lot of people and I've been trying to stop but as they say, old habits die hard.
