holy fark, u guys
in the course of doing some visual research i stumble upon these critters:
THE PINK FAIRY ARMADILLO !!!!!1
They are the smallest species of armadillo. Only 3-4 inches long :)
They can "swim underwater" through loose sand because they are
built like little mammalian sandworm-bullet things.
SO CUTE. THEY ARE PINK.
Look here for MOAR.
Talk about character design! You couldn't make this stuff up :)
Anyway... In the course of looking at that wiki page, I also see links to
- Golden Mole
- Marsupial Mole
Both of which are awesome.
The golden mole looks like a stumpy little jellybean with a fat button nose and no eyes.
The marsupial mole is lankier and shaggier and I'm imagining it "sandswimming" in a lithe ottery fashion.

[EDIT] Contrast all this preciousness with the Screaming Hairy Armadillo.

There is a serious lack of pink in nature, other than some rare flowers that arent just bred for color, theres so little out there thats pink in the world, makes you wonder where they got the color.
