Werewolves of the Dark Arts

"Werewolves of the what? What are you talking about? That's stupid! YOUR YOU'RE stupid!"
No no no, lemme explain.
Werewolves of the Dark Arts is a card game that TobiasAmaranth and I have been working on since the middle of 2009. It's an adaptation of the party game originally called Mafia. The rules for Werewolf were originally developed by Andrew Plotkin, also known as Zarf. His home page can be found here http://www.eblong.com/zarf/home.html.
In this game, Villagers and Werewolves take turns trying to kill each other while trying to avoid being killed. It's a party game intended for groups of 7 or more.
All you need to play this game is some cards (or even scraps of paper, but it's more fun with cards) and a group of pretty cool people. Each person is given a card which represents a role: Villager, Seer, or Werewolf. In this game, an informed minority (Werewolves) are pitted against an uninformed majority (Villagers) in a battle of survival.
At night, the Werewolves pick one person to dismember and feast on their innards. During the day, the paranoid, tweaked-out Villagers pick someone to lynch based on... well based on nothing, really. With the Werewolves pretending to be Villagers, they really have no idea who they're killing. They could even kill the Seer, a special Villager with the power to recognize the Werewolves for what they are. The Villagers' goal is to totally eliminate the Werewolves; the Werewolves seek to overpower the Villagers. With no way to tell who is actually a Werewolf, players must bluff, lie, and mislead in order to survive.
You can see how this can turn into a family friendly murder-fest, right? Good.
Our deck has special cards intended for large and/or advanced groups. There is a grand total of 32 expanded roles to play, many having special abilities or powers. There's a lot of variety within these roles, including good, evil, and just plain silly cards. There are some cards with multiple art featuring male and female characters for players who don't want to see the same pictures showing up all the time.
For more information like rules and all of the cards, please see the website:

If there's a card you'd like to see, let me know and it might get included in an expansion. :) You may also see Toby at a local convention - please check his journal to see if he will be at a con near you. He almost always runs Werewolf games at the cons he goes to, if you want to jump in and try it out.
Toby has done the rules, rulebook, and text layout, while I've done the card layout, card art, box art, and other misc. art assets. I'm also responsible for the website, so if you see any typos, have suggestions for new pages, or think something isn't clear, please let me know so I can address it. I've tested it on multiple browsers across multiple platforms, so it should work properly on everything from your desktop to your smart phone.
The Werewolf concept was adapted from Mafia by Zarf, so many thanks to him for letting people use his idea for free.
